On Saturday, December 5, take a picture with Santa Claus, who makes an early trip to the Old West. Sing along with classic Gene Autry holiday favorites like “Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)” and “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Free with museum admission.

The Western Holiday Weekend sale event kicks off on Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6. Visit the Autry Store and enjoy the holiday spirit with festive music and tasty treats. Autry members will receive an additional 10% off most merchandise at stores in Griffith Park and the Southwest Museum in Mt. Washington. No reservations are required.

The fun continues on Sunday, December 6, where you can gather round for StoryTime! Little Firefly: An Algonquian Legend by Terri Cohlene and The First Strawberries: A Cherokee Story by Joseph Bruchac are two stories about Native peoples of the eastern United States. Afterward, learn about their rich cultures in a hands-on presentation by museum docents.

Also on December 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., sit back, relax, and enjoy Cowboy Holiday Cheer, a special holiday concert in the Wells Fargo Theater featuring a sampling of selected talent from the Western Music Association. Tickets are available in advance or on the day of the concert. RSVP to Marilyn Tuttle, 818.365.8709, or lindaleegreen@earthlink.net.

The holiday excitement doesn’t end there! Join us on December 26 and 27 for five family-friendly activities throughout the museum. Autry Adventures 5-Star Activities honors Gene Autry’s five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is the only person to have achieved all five stars. Free with museum admission.
