Motley Crue releases updated "Greatest Hits" album

Mötley Crüe has returned with the release of an updated Greatest Hits album now available in stores. The collection spans the career of the iconic rock band – from the gritty beginnings on the Sunset Strip with “Too Fast for Love” to “Saints of Los Angeles,” the title track from the 2008 release of the same name. The release also features a never-before-heard remix of Saints of Los Angeles track “The Animal In Me” interpreted by James Michael, who co-produced the song with Nikki Sixx and DJ Ashba.

The Greatest Hits release follows two hugely successful years for Mötley Crüe. Released in June 2008, Saints of Los Angeles debuted at #1 on the Independent Albums chart and #4 on the Billboard 200. The title track and lead single scored the band a GRAMMY nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance and was named the #1 Rock Song of the Year in 2008 by the iTunes editorial board. “Saints of Los Angeles” also debuted on Rock Band, selling five times more downloads through the video game than through traditional digital retailers.

The summer of 2008 saw the launch of Crüe Fest as Mötley Crüe, along with rockers Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M. and Trapt, took the road and played to nearly half a million rock fans nationwide. The tour ended the season as the top touring rock festival according to Rolling Stone magazine. Mötley Crüe returned to the summer concert circuit in 2009 with Crüe Fest 2, bringing twice as much rock and filling out the festival atmosphere with a lineup of ten bands on two stages.

Mötley Crüe has become a worldwide force since the band’s beginnings in 1981, selling over 80 million albums, 25 million in the U.S.A., to date including 1983’s four-million-selling Shout at the Devil, followed by five consecutive Top 10 singles in 1985’s Theatre of Pain (#6), 1987’s platinum-selling Girls, Girls, Girls (#2), 1989’s six-million-selling and chart-topper Dr. Feelgood, 1994’s Mötley Crüe (#7) and 1997’s Gold selling Generation Swine (#4).
