As Tall as Lions touring in support of new album

After successful tours with Cage the Elephant, Mutemath and Minus the Bear, AS TALL AS LIONS—vocalist/guitarist Daniel Nigro, guitarist Saen Fitzgerald, bassist Julio Tavarez and drummer Cliff Sarcona—are set to launch their first headlining tour in support of their latest album, YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU, released last August on Triple Crown Records. This outing ranks as the soulful indie-rock band’s largest headlining tour, hitting most major markets across the country and playing larger seminal venues such as the Fillmore Irving Plaza in New York, the Middle East in Boston, as well as a stop at the Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival on April 16.

For the tour, the band has teamed up with ACE (Alliance for Climate Education). ACE is helping AS TALL AS LIONS to raise climate awareness by making simple changes in their lives—and the lives of their fans—to help the environment. The band and ACE are encouraging fans to choose a “D.O.T.” (a.k.a. Do One Thing) in order to help the environment, such as grabbing a steel reusable water bottle and ditching all the plastic. The entire band will be using these water bottles, handing them out at various stops along the tour route, and encouraging fans to choose their own DOT.

Singer Daniel Nigro is going to take it a few steps further with the Zero-Waste Challenge; committing himself not to generate any garbage for the entire tour. The band is asking fans to text DOT to 30644 to share their own DOT during the show—everything from picking up a reusable water bottle to riding a bike or walking to school/work.

Nigro says, ‘We’ve never really aimed to be a preachy band, but this is something we all really believe in and feel we can help make a difference with.”

To keep the fans updated on their new waste-free life on the road, the band will be posting webisodes frequently on all of their websites (listed below). The first one will be posted on Thursday, April 1.

YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU entered Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” chart at #88, and Alternative Press listed it #7 on their "Best Albums Of '09" list and awarded Nigro the runner up spot in their "Best Vocalist" category, gushing "his soaring falsetto and multi-octave range may evoke Jeff Buckley, but Nigro brings depth and soulfulness to a scene sorely lacking both.”
