On May 4, M.C. Records will release of The Essential Cyril Neville 1994-2007 (MC-0065). The recording is a collection from Cyril’s five solo records that were self-released. Included in “Essential” is a never before released track featuring Taj Mahal on guitar and harmonica, “The Blues Is Here to Stay.” Other special guests include Allen Toussaint, Eddie Bo, Marva Wright and Jason Neville. “Essential” is the follow up to the critically acclaimed Brand New Blues also on the M.C. label released in 2009.

The Essential Cyril Neville 1994-2007 is a portrait of an artist who represents the rich musical heritage of New Orleans. Many of the songs were written by Cyril including his tribute to Haiti in ”Ayiti.” Cyril doesn’t shy away from covers in this collection. Check out his funky version on Hendrix’s “Foxey Lady” and his beautiful rendition of Dylan’s “The Times They Are A Changing.” Cyril selected many of the songs on the release and it is a genuine reflection of this great musician and the city that shaped him.

On June 29 M.C. Records will be issuing two-time Grammy nominee Cindy Bullens’ Barking Trains and Howling Dogs (MC-0066). Cindy began her music career touring and recording with Elton John. In 1979 she released her debut solo album Desire Wire (United Artists) and scored a breakthrough hit with her song "Survivor."

Barking Trains and Howling Dogs features Cindy co-writing with some of the best in Nashville including Radney Foster, Bill Lloyd, Matraca Berg, Kye Fleming, Mary Ann Kennedy and Al Anderson. The recording is a pure Americana musical journey from start to finish. Cindy will have a busy 2010. You’ll find her on the road supporting her new M.C. Records release, touring with the band The Refugees and she is running for State Senate in her longtime home state of Maine.
