Galactic to offer podcast from New Orleans

GALACTIC's latest album Ya-Ka-May offers an exciting and exotic musical journey into a modern day New Orleans as experienced by those who live there. In anticipation of the band's upcoming appearance at the storied New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, GALACTIC are giving friends and fans a personal off the beaten path guide to their beloved hometown of New Orleans.

This forty minute long intimate and entertaining podcast provides a GALACTIC guide to experiencing the real flavor of this incredibly vital city with tips on the best and occasionally hidden clubs and eateries. Band members discuss their favorites for late night dining and all night dancing.

Hear where best to catch a neighborhood brass band in their element, find out where best to witness the regional rump shaking phenomenon of "bounce" music. Listen as recurrent GALACTIC live guest and Rebirth Brass Band member Corey Henry describes a beloved all night eatery that serves his favorite cheeseburgers on French bread smothered in gravy. As an added bonus, the band plays some of their favorite New Orleans songs to set the mood.

GALACTIC will be performing at the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 1st. For this special hometown celebration the band will be joined on stage by soul legend Irma Thomas along with renowned New Orleans musicians Cyril Neville and Corey Henry.

The band will also make an appearance on the riveting new HBO show "Treme" this coming Sunday April 18. The series, by the brilliant creators of the The Wire, focuses on life in New Orleans three months after Hurricane Katrina as residents try to rebuild their lives, homes and musical culture.
