Want a chance to swing your way to winning a cool $1 million while helping abused and neglected youngsters rebuild their lives?
Hathaway-Sycamores board members and golf event co-chairs Brad Freer and Dave Battaglia invite caring members of the community to do just that at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services’ “Shot-at-a-Million” Golf Classic on Friday, May 14, at Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland. With twenty percent of the nation’s children suffering from a diagnosable mental illness, proceeds from this extremely worthwhile event will help fund therapeutic and other support services to youngsters, ages 6 to 18, who are cared for by Hathaway-Sycamores, the largest provider of children’s mental health services in Los Angeles County.
Golfer or not, there are many ways to participate in this worthwhile event.
Diehard golf enthusiasts can opt for the Longest Day of Golf—tee off at 7 a.m. and play at your own pace until 5:30 p.m. Each golfer contributes or raises $1,500 and receives an invitation for two at the 19th Hole After-Party along with “Shot-at-a-Million” qualifying opportunities.
For golfers who can’t devote the entire day, there’s the 9-Hole Team Challenge from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Here, teams of two compete in a two-person scramble “scratch” format featuring numerous on-course competitions and great prizes. Cost is $500 per team and includes two tickets for each golfer to the 19th Hole After-Party and one qualifying “Shot-at-a-Million.”
For those who can’t hit the links at all, there’s the 19th Hole After-Party from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., emceed by popular KISS-FM traffic reporter Commander Chuck Street. For $50 per person, guests will enjoy four-star food and drink, entertainment, a silent auction featuring a weekend stay for two at the Montage Laguna Beach resort, including dinner at The Loft restaurant, and a bird’s-eye view of those golfers trying to pocket $1 million for a hole-in-one.
And a brand-new 2010 BMW MINI-Cooper will be raffled away (tickets are $50, and the winner need not be present).
