OLD CALIFORNIO
"(Old Californio's "Westering Again")...is an amalgam of West Coast rock with a heavy Cosmic American flavouring deftly blended together by the band...they've produced a gem of an album with more than enough warmth and California ambience to lift the chill from the winter weather and turn your thoughts to summer's pleasures."-- Beat Surrender

"It’s too bad the magazine No Depression is no more, as OLD CALIFORNIO would surely be one of its cover stars. Led by songwriter RICH DEMBOWSKI, the Pasadena band masterfully blends folk, country and pop into a rich, satisfying brew. "--The Big Takeover

TRAMPLED BY TURTLES
Denver Post December 17, 2009: “The lightning-fast “White Noise,” a song off last year’s “Duluth” album, exhibits the aggressive picking style that led the Onion’s A.V. Club to dub Trampled by Turtles “perhaps the best live band” in Minnesota. But tracks such as “Empire” hew closer to the Avett Brothers’ aching melodies and wall-of-strings aesthetic, while the somber “Methodism in Middle America” could easily pass for a Nirvana cover rendered on a rural back porch.”

Bay Guardian (San Francisco, CA) August 1, 2007: “Shooting sparks in the face of folk traditionalism, the quintet approaches the banjo and mandolin with a level of brash recklessness hardly heard since the now-mythical reign of Uncle Tupelo. Bill Monroe and Joe Strummer would both be proud.”

THE BLACK TONGUED BELLS
"Every tongue has a tale to tell and I say we got more than our share."

We took our name from a Dylan Thomas poem and, in the winter of 2001, set out to create our own brand of roots music—dubbed "American Swamp". We tap everything from Roots Rock and Roll, Blues and Motown to Americana, Cajun and Gospel. Once forced to describe the Bells sound in a single sentence, Miner retorted; "Imagine if the Stones came from Louisiana...they might sound like us".
