Stuart Wilde to walk llamas through L.A. April 17-23

In an effort to encourage people to park their cars, walk, and help save the planet, Taos, New Mexico Wilderness Guide, Stuart Wilde is bringing his team of eco-friendly pack llamas, and his message, to Los Angeles April 17 through 23. The Wilde walk coincides with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, which is recognized on April 22, 2010.

Wilde and his llama team will trek 16 miles across Los Angeles, from Hollywood to the Santa Monica Pier, to promote walking as a sustainable mode of transportation to reduce consumption of fossil fuels, to lower carbon emissions, and to help fight obesity.

“If we all traded one hour of driving a day for walking the same distance, we’d cut our fossil fuel usage by more than 30 percent, and lose an average of 26 pounds a year!” says Wilde, who walks more than 2,000 miles each year as a wilderness hiking guide in the High Desert and Southern Rocky Mountains.

Earth Day events throughout the area and across the country will include speaking engagements, Green community service projects, local school visits and more.

Stuart Wilde is the Director and Head Wilderness Guide for Wild Earth Llama Adventures (www.LlamaAdventures.com), and has lead fun and educational, hands-on wilderness experiences in New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Rio Grande Gorge, near Taos and Santa Fe.

Wild Llama Adventures was recently ranked in the “Top Ten Tours in America” by TripAdvisor and was recently featured in Home and Garden Television’s (HGTV) “Destination Design.”
