The Hundred in the Hands to tour in support of new EP

Brooklyn-based duo The Hundred in the Hands hits the road for their first national tour beginning June 3 in San Francisco. The tour, which includes stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston, among others, coincides with the release of the band’s debut EP, This Desert, on Warp Records. The recording builds on the success of THITH’s acclaimed “Dressed in Dresden” 12” single, striking a path that touches on elegant French pop, blissed out dub, house and post-punk.

The 6-track EP, which Brooklyn Vegan describes as “a bit post-punky, a bit shoegaze-y but sounds like now. And you can dance to it,” comes in anticipation of the band’s debut LP this fall.

The Hundred in the Hands is Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell. The recently-signed group makes emotionally charged and intensely driving music, which harks back to the most classic of dance songs from NYC’s storied underground.

The band describes the EP as, “The more ethereal, gauzy side of our tastes; the Summertime-Gothic and dreamy tracks we made thinking they’d go well with open hydrants and looks that kill.”

But this self-description belies more than just a dance band. Everdell and Friedman bend and blend styles, sounds and eras into something that doesn’t feel confused, fake or forced. It just feels fun.
