NXNE announces more bands for June festival

NXNE announces the second wave of bands playing the festival this June. Wristbands range from just $25 for one day to $50 for all five days of music and film, and are available online at www.nxne.com.

Early bird passes are available until May 7, 2010. Student prices are also available.

Buck 65 steps away from his duties as host of Canada’s CBC Radio 2’s Drive show and gets back to live performance, bringing his avant-garde folk hip-hop to NXNE. K-OS continues his North American tour with a stop in Toronto, and Polaris Music Prize-nominated death-country trio Elliott Brood also play NXNE. Lo-fi surf-pop act Best Coast and post-punk quintet Warpaint hit the festival from California.

Dreamy Sub-Popsters Avi Buffalo just released a debut album this April and stop in to play a weekender of shows, while Toronto’s Timber Timbre and Diamond Rings also join the line-up. Garage-punk Texans The Strange Boys and LA’s Mini Mansions (featuring Michael Shurman from Queens of the Stone Age) return to Toronto. NXNE also hosts New Orleans bounce-style gang Big Freedia and Philly quintet Free Energy. John Doe and Exene Cervenka from X add to their previously announced performance at the festival, performing an acoustic show.

Hollywood’s The Icarus Line, California desert rocker Brant Bjork, and the UK’s Comanechi (featuring Akiko Matsuura from The Big Pink) will bring festival crowds even more of a taste of what’s happening outside Canada.
