The Dead Lay Waiting to release new album
Swindon, UK’s THE DEAD LAY WAITING (TDLW) is pleased to announce the November 29th, 2011 United States release of their new album, Almost Heaven, with UK label Rising Records. Almost Heaven was released in June 2011 in the UK, featuring 14 tracks and 60 minutes of pulsating music. The album also marks the return of Barry Clayton, the voice behind the now well known intro to Iron Maiden’s Number Of The Beast. The band’s first music video from the album, ‘The Days I’m Gone,’ reached #6 in the Scuzz TV playlist, and the band is planning to release a second video for the track ‘Burnt to Ashes’. Streaming tracks from Almost Heaven are available now at the band’s YouTube page.
THE DEAD LAY WAITING began writing music together in 2007, almost immediately making an instant impact on the local scene and securing support slots for visiting bands. With a progressive-edged sound featuring complex and fresh riffs, combined with aggressive approaches and catchy vocal lines, the band quickly earned themselves a reputation for pushing their way through the dredged beds of the UK’s underground rock scene in order to become its new, great shining hope.
In late 2007, the band recorded their first EP, Memories Of A Massacre, followed by a self-titled EP in early 2008. Following an appearance at the Bloodstock Open Air Festival in August 2008, TDLW signed to UK based label Rising Records, releasing their debut album, We Rise, in January 2010. The album consisted of twelve songs of fast-paced, hyper-melodic music. The release also saw the bands first music video for the track, ‘Obsession Of An Anxiety’.
During 2009 and 2010, the band spent much of their time on the road touring both in the UK and Europe, as well as performing at music festivals such as the much-acclaimed Download Festival in 2009 and again in 2010. Earlier this year, despite the bands youth, TDLW were proudly nominated for KERRANG! Magazine’s ‘Best British Newcomer Band’ award, and the Metal Hammer Golden God ‘Best Underground Band’ award. The awards coincided with the UK release of Almost Heaven.
With a fan base growing, the band is ready to take on anything anywhere and perform their bone-crushing live performance across the world.
THE DEAD LAY WAITING is:
Luke Lucas: Vocals
Ban Connett: Guitar
Steve Franklin: Guitar
Sam Sara: Bass
Tom Shrimpton: Drums

The Fairchilds to release debut album
The Fairchilds will release their debut album Our Revolution via independent label Vertusent on September 27, 2011. Singer Cyril Niccolai sees his dreams realized with this release, having detoured from a career in medicine to follow his aspiration to become an international recording artist. Niccolai was raised in Nice, France, and contrary to the vision of his parents, his chosen path has become a case study displaying how perseverance and talent can make dreams come true.
Niccolai is a modern Renaissance man of sorts. An accomplished singer and songwriter, he has spent a decade honing his skills and becoming an artist ready for the world stage.
Contemporaneously, he studied medicine and law in university, engages in a variety of sports including tennis, golf and scuba diving, dabbles in still and video photography, has a keen interest in literature and art, and aspires to run the New York City Marathon. For now though, his focus is purely on The Fairchilds. The band’s moniker is a tribute to a Fairchild vintage amp used in tracking the debut recording.
Our Revolution is a compelling compilation of twelve tracks ranging from sing-along rock anthems to haunting ballads. The cumulative evolution of Niccolai’s talents as a writer attests that he has found a voice that is with certainty his own. The first single “Unbreakable” is a poignant commentary on the pursuit of one’s dreams against the odds. The Christmas prior to recording the album, the singer was at his family home in the Cote d’Azur with the album weighing heavily on his mind.
He shares, “I was due to start recording in April and while I had enough strong repertoire for the release, I felt something was lacking.” He was on the clock, and with a commitment to appear in a French musical for three months, the creative impetus of this quandary delivered “Unbreakable.” He offers, “The song is a dedication to everyone who is going through a tough phase and the message is ‘Hang in there, don’t lose hope’. “
Niccolai’s perpetual need to challenge himself is deeply rooted. He is the son of successful doctors, and he chose to trade the stability and predictability of a career in medicine for the bohemian lifestyle of a singer and songwriter. Unbeknownst to his parents, he auditioned for the role of the poet Gringoire in the smash French musical Notre Dame de Paris. He landed the role and with that opportunity summoned the courage to tell his parents of his plans for a career change. The news was not well received, but his performance at the premiere left them no doubts about his potential in his new career.
Our Revolution, his musical vision for The Fairchilds, combines bold, winning melodies with a broad perspective of the world and an unerring sense of uplift. Justice, hope and promise are recurring themes on the Jim Lowe (Stereophonics, Foo Fighters) produced album.
Niccolai states, “Even when the songs are dark, I always try to give the songs a positive side. I know that the world is in turmoil. The news papers and television relentlessly remind me of this. But my main goal is to distract people from their problems and my music therefore has to be optimistic.”
That said nothing should be taken at face value with Niccolai. The title track “Our Revolution” is not an incitement to revolution as the title suggests, but a sly satire on a person’s clichéd perspective of revolution, and the self-serving objectives sought and how without passion and determination all returns quickly to the status quo.
Niccolai will be arriving in America late-September, and calling the U.S. home for the foreseeable future. Home base will be the Southwest, with plans to travel across the country making appearances from coast-to-coast on the radio airwaves, and stages ranging from legendary clubs to vineyards. Day by day, Niccolai will be discovering a personal perspective of the streets where rock began.
He offers, “It is a dream come true for me to be able to be present the album in America. I can’t describe how happy, excited, and proud I am, but at the same time it is tremendously intimidating when I think of all my musical heroes who hail from there. I hope Our Revolution connects with the hearts and minds of the American audiences. And above all, I aspire to have fun, dream big, and share the moments music brings with audiences across the U.S.A., followed by The World.”

Richie Kotzen to release new album
After 2 years of extensive international touring, guitar virtuoso, singer/ songwriter Richie Kotzen is back to unleash his new album 24 HOURS, releasing November 11 on Headroom-Inc.
24 HOURS reflects the guitar style’s that has defined his career as a virtuoso, while taking it to another level of playing. “I feel like I have reached a new level of soloing on the opening track 24 HOURS,” explains Kotzen. “I stopped using a guitar pick on electric a few years ago and my playing has evolved in a different way. Some of the solo lines I play on the song 24 HOURS, and others as well, are lines I would have never been able to play with a guitar pick. So I would say the solo's on this CD are at a different level than previous recordings.”
24 HOURS is an absorbing collective blend of Kotzen’s musical influences and diversity. 24 hours takes you on an inspired, musical journey as the opening track sets the tone that falls stylistically somewhere between early Van Halen and Sly and the Family Stone. Kotzen also brought in his talented daughter, August Kotzen and friend Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, to complete the album. “My daughter, August is singing with me on a few songs and is playing electric piano on the song STOP ME,” states Kotzen. “My friend Jerry Cantrell is singing backgrounds on LOVE IS BLIND and does a very cool lead vocal ad-lib in the final chorus of the tune."
24 HOURS is an album that has been in the works since Kotzen started playing guitar. The guitar virtuoso burst onto the heavy metal scene as a teenager with a lightning-fast guitar techniques. With his talents Kotzen has played with some of the best musicians; securing such major collaboration with the band Mr. Big and renowned jazz great Stanley Clarke as well as his own solo projects. “I have been lucky in the sense that I have been able to play with guys who I could learn from,” explains Kotzen. “The biggest musical lesson for me was playing in a band with Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. Obviously these guys are jazz musicians and I am not, but I learned so much from the time we recorded and toured together. My favorite rock bassist is Billy Sheehan and we were in Mr. Big together for 3 years which was awesome.”
24 HOURS was recorded and produced in Kotzen’s studio Headroom-Inc. 24 HOURS will be released on 11.11.11. Expect the first single, title track 24 HOURS to hit airwaves sometime soon. For more information go to www.richiekotzen.com.

Sorry to keep so many of you in the dark regarding our touring plans over the next few weeks, but we wanted to be sure of them before we spoke to you. Unfortunately, the Doctor has now confirmed that, this week, he will be operating on my throat for a third time this year. It was the wait for this decision, and no other reason, that meant we were able to complete commitments over this last week and why we will not be able to complete those in the coming weeks. In a bid to allow my throat to recover and rehabilitate completely, we will be cancelling all shows, including our trips to North America in September and Japan and Europe in October. Charlotte Sometimes new EP is here
August 31st, 2011, Charlotte Sometimes returns to the music scene with her new EP, THE WAIT. Many words have been used to describe her music in the past – powerful, fun, twisted, meaningful, accessible, playful and passive. She is all of these things and more.
Produced by Sloan Alexander from Human Worldwide, The Wait successfully manages to mix the upbeat, but lyrically biting, songs of Charlotte’s critically acclaimed Geffen release, Waves and the Both of Us, with her intensely personal follow-up EP release, Sideways. With Charlotte’s soulful voice, the new material is set to connect with listeners across genres.

New Beach Boys book to publish
The Beach Boys FAQ
All That’s Left to Know About America’s Band
Jon Stebbins
Foreword by David Marks, founding member of the Beach Boys
Celebrating 50 years of the world’s ultimate summer band
A great rock-and-roll story is a magnet, and the Beach Boys story has one of the strongest pulls of all. Author Jon Stebbins has been producing literary and televised Beach Boys productions for years, and now Backbeat Books’ newest FAQ title puts his mammoth knowledge of Beach Boys history and obscure lore into one entertaining, fast-paced tome. So pull up a chair or catch a wave—it’s time for fun, fun, fun in the summertime.
The Beach Boys FAQ: All That’s Left to Know About America’s Band (Backbeat Books, $19.99) dives down deep into the legend. Great for casual fans, Stebbins discusses the album Pet Sounds, Brian Wilson’s reclusiveness, TV appearances, and solo careers. But, this book will also take readers beyond the shoreline: Why are they considered the American Beatles? What was the truth behind Murray Wilson, Showbiz-Dad? How did the band affect global warming?
The Beach Boys FAQ covers everything from the stories—like the time Al Jardine went out to learn to surf with Dennis Wilson, but was disgusted to learn they were surfing exactly where LA’s sewage was emptying into the South Bay—to stats and lists such as instruments, addresses, song charts, and which boys sang which songs. With access to the Beach Boys, their families, friends, and collaborators, Jon Stebbins has created the ultimate Beach Boys guide in a format that allows readers to choose to dip in a toe or plunge in headfirst.
Jon Stebbins is the author of Dennis Wilson: The Real Beach Boy and The Lost Beach Boy. His liner-notes credits include the 2008 Sony Legacy edition of Dennis Wilson’s Pacific Ocean Blue. Stebbins has also written and produced shows for BBC TV, including the documentary The Beach Boys: Wouldn’t It Be Nice?

'Sing Free Now!' by Mark Bosnian to publish
Whether you sing in a band, are part of a choir at church, sing karaoke, or just love to sing in the shower there's no doubt you would like to sing better than you do now.
In his new book, Sing Free Now! 3 Steps to Power Passion and Confidence, veteran performer and vocal coach Mark Bosnian shares decades of performing experience and lessons learned about how to how sing more effectively and bring out the best you are capable of.
"Singing is all about harnessing the energy flowing through your body," he said. "Everybody has a voice and can sing. It's the most accessible form of art on the planet."
Of course singing so that it makes other people smile takes a little thought and practice. His new book provides thorough, step-by-step instructions on how to develop a clear, strong voice, and maintain total control so that you can share what is really going on inside you with the people around you in a most enjoyable way.
One of the most amazing discoveries that people experience is that there is no single right sound to sing with. In fact, the opposite is true. When you sing, you have choices. Singing from the heart with power, passion, and confidence works best when your voice can reflect the emotion of the moment and bring out what is inside you. You can sing whatever calls to you and give expression to new found experiences in way that you never imagined. With the tools and tips in Sing Free Now! youll find your authentic voice and develop it into a wonderful tool that empowers you and lets you share and give pleasure to you and the people around you.
Here are some of his best singing tips on how to stand out.
Know Your Song - have the words memorized and have 2 or 3 emotions that you want to evoke when you sing. "Knowing your motivation" will help you connect to the audience.
Use Dynamics - nothing says boring like a song that sounds the same from beginning to end. You have to change up the volume, the intensity, the tone and all other vocal elements to keep people engaged. Accent key words in each line by make them different-louder, softer, brighter, darker, staccato, legato, etc.
Sing To Your Audience, Not At Them - split the audience into quadrants and sing to each quadrant for a few seconds. Even if you're not making eye contact with every single person it will look and feel as if you're singing to each audience member. Your voice goes where your eyes go don't close your eyes a lot or look over people's heads. Look us in the eye for a few seconds and you'll win our hearts.
Make Friends With Your Belly - learn how to belly breath and "sing from the diaphragm". It is difficult to create a flow when you sing or speak if we can see your shoulders lifting up and down and hear you sucking in air. Knowing how Nature intends for us to breathe and make sound will make a huge impact on your control and confidence.
Be an Intentional Singer Not a Hopeful One - by learning to choose numbers on a scale of 1 to 10 youll be able to give your body specific directions about volume, tone, etc. You can move from saying to yourself, "I hope this comes out sounding good", to "I know exactly what I need to do to sing the sound I want".
Turn Off Your Vocal Defense Mechanism - you have a mechanism in your subconscious that tries to protect you from embarrassing yourself when you perform. By learning what triggers it, you can stop it from sabotaging your performance.
Make It Your Own - borrow from the best singers but don't imitate. Take elements of what great singers do and combine them in your singing- you'll create your own recognizable style.
Tell The Story of Your Song - almost all singers obsess about being in tune or forgetting the words. If you put your intention on telling the story of the song instead of trying to "sound good", the audience won't even notice the imperfections.
If You Don't Show It, They Won't Know It - if you don't react to a mistake no one will notice it. Practice making a mistake and continuing as if nothing happened and this will become second nature.
Make A Move, Make a Connection - shift your weight from foot to foot, take a step forward or to the side, change the position of your hands or your body movement is the key to looking confident on stage.

Paul Rodgers & Friends live album to be released
To be totally succinct about it, Paul Rodgers is simply one of the best rock frontmen in history. Period. No argument. End of discussion. His soulful blustery pipes have stood the test of time from Free, Bad Company and The Firm to Queen and beyond. Be it blues, rock’n’roll, ballads, R’n’B, or pop, there isn’t anything this man cannot sing.
On September 13, Eagle Rock Entertainment will simultaneously release Paul Rodgers & Friends Live At Montreux 1994 on CD and DVD [MSRP $14.98 for DVD, $13.98 for CD]. Touring in support of his Grammy nominated Muddy Water Blues album (available on Eagle Records), Rodgers assembled a top notch unit of blues and rock veterans to give the Montreux faithful the night of their lives. What a lineup! , Queen’s Brian May, Black Country Communion’s Jason Bonham , Toto’s Steve Lukather and Journey’s Neal Schon, joined guitarist Ian Hatton, bassist John Smithson and such blues performers and players as Eddie Kirkland, Sherman Robertson, Luther Allison, Robert Lucas and Kenny Neal. As Willie Dixon says, it’s a wang-dang doodle!
Material consisted of many of the songs Rodgers penned and built his sterling reputation on (including “All Right Now,” “Can’t Get Enough” and “Feel Like Making Love”) but the bulk of the evening was nothin’ but the blues: faithful joyously jam-happy renditions of songs written by Robert Johnson in 1936 (“Crossroads”), Sonny Boy Williamson in 1937 (“Good Morning Little School Girl”), Booker T & The MGs in 1967 (“The Hunter”) and three that Willie Dixon wrote for Muddy Waters in 1954 (“I’m Ready” and “Hoochie Coochie Man”) and 1961 (“Let Me Love You Baby”).
Complete Track Listing:
1) Introduction
2) Travelling Man
3) Wishing Well
4) Louisiana Blues
5) Fire And Water
6) Muddy Water Blues
7) Good Morning Little School Girl
8) I’m Ready

Willie Nelson provides song for Chipotle film
Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) has produced a new stop-motion animated short film called “Back to the Start” that depicts a farmer’s journey to sustainable farming. The film — a first for Chipotle — was directed by London-based Johnny Kelly and features a cover of the Coldplay song “The Scientist,” sung by music icon and family farm advocate Willie Nelson.
Chipotle plans to show the two-minute film nationally beginning in September. It will appear on nearly 5,700 movie theater screens in advance of feature films and will educate consumers about Chipotle’s favored farming methods, and demonstrate the differences between industrial farming and more sustainable methods. It can also be viewed online at Chipotle.com or on Facebook at Facebook.com/chipotle.
“We have always understood the importance of serving food that is raised right,” said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle. “We produced this film to help illustrate the choices people face in deciding what to eat, and hope that it will encourage people to choose food that is raised with respect for the land, the animals, and the farmers that produce it.”
The film’s subject matter is enhanced by Nelson’s cover of Coldplay’s song, “The Scientist.” It follows the story of a farmer whose family farm has evolved over time into a factory farm. In a moment of self-reflection, the farmer realizes that his animal factory is not consistent with his vision for the farm. As the song lyrics suggest, the farmer goes “back to the start” by ridding his farm of its factory qualities and returning to more sustainable farming methods.
The song is available for purchase on iTunes, with proceeds ($.60 per download) benefitting the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, which provides funding to support sustainable agriculture, family farming, and culinary education.
“We have a tremendous amount of respect for Willie Nelson, both as a musician and for his extraordinary efforts to support family farming,” said Ells. “We are thrilled to have his support for this project and hope that working together, we can help people understand the importance of food that is raised right.”

Global Jam at the Ford Oct. 1
Festival producers Rocco Somazzi and Jeff Gauthier continue to explore new and provocative avenues of creative jazz at the 4th annual Angel City Jazz Festival (www.angelcityjazz.com ). The theme for the 2011 festival is Global Jam, with artists representing nine countries at seven events in six venues throughout Los Angeles. The festival centerpiece production will take place Saturday October 1 at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd East, Hollywood, CA 90068.
The Jam begins at 5pm with Los Angeles’ own Pan Afrikan People’s Arkestra celebrating its 50th anniversary of furthering the legacy of iconic pianist Horace Tapscott, followed by the dynamic Japanese duo of Satoko Fujii on piano and Natsuki Tamura on trumpet at 6:15pm, continuing with the French progressive ensemble The Kandinsky Effect at 7:00pm, The Tigran Quintet featuring Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan at 8pm, and finishing with Indian saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa and Samdhi in their first west coast appearance at 9:30pm.
Tickets are $45 for adults, $18 for full-time students with ID and $12 for children 12 and under and are available at www.FordTheatres.org or 323 461-3673 (for non-visual media, 323 GO 1- FORD). Through the Ford’s early buyer incentive program, adults who buy tickets on or before September 25th pay only $40. This event is produced in association with the L.A. County Arts Commission.
Sited in the historic Cahuenga Pass in the world famous Hollywood Hills, the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre was originally known as the Pilgrimage Theatre and is one of the oldest performing arts venues in Los Angeles still in use. The Amphitheater has a rich jazz tradition which included a regular jazz series in the 1960s and 70s, and an annual Mother’s Day Jazz & Blues Extravaganza.
The Pan Afrikan People's Arkistra is a performing arts organization comprised of instrumentalists, vocalists, dancers, writers, and teachers. The “ARK”, as it is affectionately known, was formed in the Los Angeles area in the early 1960s by the late composer/ pianist, Horace Tapscott. This unique musical ensemble is the realization of Mr. Tapscott’s vision of developing and showcasing the extraordinary talents of artists from the local community. Currently under the direction of lead vocalist extraordinaire Dwight Trible, this powerful choir speaks as one voice for the community, in truth and love. Today's performance marks the 50th anniversary of The ARK and continues Mr. Tapscott’s ultimate vision of a community-based group of artists dedicated to performing and preserving the original compositions of Pan-African artists throughout the world.
Satoko Fujii is one of the most original voices in jazz today. Half of an impressionistic husband and wife piano & trumpet duo from Tokyo, Japan, she is a “virtuoso piano improviser, an original composer and a band-leader who gets the best collaborators to deliver,” says John Fordham in The Guardian. In concert and on over thirty-five albums as a leader or co-leader, the Tokyo resident synthesizes jazz, contemporary classical, avant-rock and Japanese folk music into an innovative music, instantly recognizable as hers alone. Her spouse Natsuki Tamura has an active performing career split between his homeland and the United States. He has been widely recognized for his unique and accomplished sound and has been compared with players as diverse as Lester Bowie, Miles Davis, and Freddie Hubbard. He has been featured worldwide at festivals including the 1998 Texaco New York Jazz Festival in a solo trumpet performance, Newport Jazz in Madarao, Japan Jazz Aid, Yokohama Jazz, Yatsugatake Jazz, Kobe Jazz, and Hibiya Jazz, as well as in clubs such as the Knitting Factory in New York, the Carnival Jazz Club, Babel 2nd, and Pit Inn in Tokyo, Airgin in Yokohama, and the Willow Jazz Club in Boston, among others.
The Kandinsky Effect is a post-modern jazz Trio searching for new ways to improvise within the jazz idiom by blending the borders of jazz, rock, electronic, hip-hop, and experimental sounds to create a truly singular voice within instrumental music. Improvisation is ever-present, and spontaneity is paramount. The band has been touring extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe over the last few years building new audiences with an adventurous yet accessible sound and a flair for the unexpected. As the Los Angeles Times puts it “The young Paris-based trio, The Kandinsky Effect, offers an invigorating approach to modern jazz improvisation.”
Called “Amazing” by no less a jazz piano authority than Herbie Hancock and regarded as an absolute prodigy of his instrument, Tigran Hamasyan is a recent winner of the world-renown Thelonious Monk Piano Competition and the Montreux Jazz Solo Competition. Originally from Armenia and living in Paris now, Hamasyan combines the folk melodies of his home country with the complexities of jazz. Described by the NY Times as "intensely searching…an intuitive force," his quintet performance with Ben Wendel on sax, and Nate Wood on drums, both of the popular and influential group Kneebody, Sam Minaie on bass and Armenian vocalist Areni will be an energetic and visceral experience. Tigran solo CD, A Fable awill be released on September 27, 2011 through top jazz label Verve.
Composer, Guggenheim fellow and 2011 Downbeat International Critics Poll "Alto Sax Player of the Year," Rudresh Mahanthappa is one of the most innovative musicians in jazz today, fusing the musical culture of his Indian ancestry and jazz with myriad other influences to create a groundbreaking artistic vision. In Sanskrit, Samdhi means "that which combines or unites" or "the interval between day and night." In more traditional Hindu terms, it refers to the period between the end of one age and the dawn of another. For Rudresh this project represents a new direction in combing the complex melodic and rhythmic elements of both South Indian music and the traditions of jazz within an electro-acoustic format consisting of alto saxophone with electronics, electric guitar, electric bass, and drums. A direct result, of his research as a Guggenheim fellow, this new work will deeply engage the listener while breaking new ground in the multicultural landscape of modern music. Mahanthappa’s Samdhi album will be released on September 27, 2011 through Act Music.

ACME Studio creates limited-edition Beatles line with pens, card cases and more
ACME Studio, the renowned manufacturer of superior design objects and accessories, is proud to announce a licensing agreement with Apple Corps, Ltd. brokered by Live Nation Merchandise, The Beatles North American Licensing Agent, to introduce a limited-edition collection of pens, timepieces, card cases and eyeglass cases featuring iconic imagery inspired by the legendary lads from Liverpool. The collection will debut in August at the New York International Gift Fair.
The collection will introduce nine individually numbered limited-edition pens commemorating each year that the Beatles were together, beginning with 1962. Two pens will be released every six months, with edition numbering that matches the year depicted on the pen, i.e., 1,962 pieces will be available for 1962. In addition, as part of the initial launch, ACME Studio will introduce “The Beatles,” a set of four pens featuring John, Paul, George and Ringo, in four interchangeable formats (rollerball, felt tip, ballpoint and fountain) in a numbered edition of 600. “Invasion,” a single pen commemorating the year The Beatles arrived in the United States and “Beatle-mania” ensued, will also be released in a limited edition of 1964 pieces.
For each of the 13 UK albums released by the Beatles, a pen and card case set packaged within miniature album covers will be introduced in editions of 1000 pieces each. The first set introduced will be “Please Please Me,” followed by “With The Beatles,” and “A Hard Day’s Night.” Three sets will be released every six months.
Three unique timepieces will join the collection in February 2012 in limited editions of 1000 pieces each. Finally, three eyeglass cases designed with the band’s most compelling graphics will also be introduced.
“The Beatles Collection, is the most elaborate, most researched, the most comprehensive collection of Beatles memorabilia that has ever been produced and the first Beatles products to have been accepted into the permanent collection of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. You could say that ACME has literally written the book on the subject, as a comprehensive book about the collection is also available,” said Lesley Bailey, ACME’s co-founder and Vice President.
With the new Beatles collection, ACME Studios continues its partnership with renowned designers, artists and architects to create distinctive writing tools and accessories. For more information about ACME, visit www.acmestudio.com.

Benni Cinkle song to benefit That Girl in Pink Foundation
Just last spring, Benni Cinkle was an eighth grader from Anaheim Hills, Calif. who loved hanging out with friends, being online, doing charity work, and spending time with her family. Back then, few people on the Internet knew who Cinkle was, but all that changed when she accepted an invitation from her friend, Rebecca Black, to be in a music video called “Friday.” Six short months later, Cinkle has become a world-recognized Internet meme with big aspirations and an even bigger fan base. It's in response to repeated requests from her fans that Cinkle will be releasing her début single, "Can You See Me Now" and a compelling music video on September 1.
"It's amazing how quickly everything happened," Cinkle commented recently of her growing popularity online. "People from all around the world on Facebook and Twitter were asking me to dance again, so I did a little flash mob dance at the mall to raise money for Japan Relief. But then, they started asking me to sing, and I thought maybe the time was right to tell someone about my song."
Cinkle is referring to a song she had written in 2010 after reading what kids her age were posting on www.sixbillionsecrets.com , a non-judgmental website where people write anonymously about their deepest secrets. Their stories of child abuse, sexual abuse, depression, bulimia, and so many other teen issues moved Cinkle and inspired her to write her message of hope for troubled kids and teens all over the world. She said the song just came to her “all at once.” Not knowing what to do with the song, she tucked it away. It wasn’t until after Rebecca Black's "Friday" went viral and fans were asking Cinkle to sing that she pulled out her song and put the finishing touches on “Can You See Me Now.”
“This has been a crazy summer, but the biggest surprise came when Benni told me she had written a song,” said Cinkle’s mother, Pati Cinkle. Not being in the entertainment business, she says she made a few phone calls after hearing Benni’s song and was quickly pointed in the right direction. “We are so fortunate to have the support of some very talented industry professionals," says Pati Cinkle, referring to the producers at Serenity West Studios in Hollywood who have turned out smash hits for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, and Rihanna, among others; video director Nick Spanos, who has worked with Jason Derulo, and American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin, among many others; and choreographer Miguel Zarate of Miley Cyrus’ “Can’t Be Tamed” and "America's Got Talent." All have been working throughout the summer to help Cinkle deliver her message. The result is a single with memorable lyrics intended to send a message of hope and empowerment to kids who need it.
On September 1, when Cinkle releases "Can You See Me Now" on YouTube, her faithful Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and the rest of the world will decide whether or not Cinkle's début will lead to a follow-up single. But if her track record is any indication, chances are good that Cinkle is in it for the long haul.
Beyond her musical aspirations, Cinkle has captured the attention of millions around the globe and used her platform to raise awareness for causes she is most passionate about. To date, she has released an eBook for teens dealing with cyber-bullying (available in English and Spanish as a free download on www.thatgirlinpink.org ), danced to raise funds for Japan, and received the Grom Award from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for organizing a team of international walkers for their Great Strides annual fundraiser. She also formed a non-profit organization in order to raise awareness, involvement, and donations for issues that affect children and teens.
“Can You See Me Now” will be available for purchase on iTunes.com on September 1. 20% of profits from the single will go to That Girl in Pink Foundation to help charities associated with children and teens.

Gordon Henderson exhibit coming to LA Sept. 9-29
For more than a quarter-century, LA-based artist and performer Gordon Henderson has been beguiling his fans with the Nib Geebles calendar. The 26th Calendar, titled Dogs Deserve Our Compliments, is now out, and to celebrate, Bermudez Projects in downtown Los Angeles is mounting an exclusive exhibit featuring the original ink-on-paper drawings from the calendar. The show opens September 9 and runs through September 29, 2011.
Rendered in a bold, graphic style – inspired by the works of R. Crumb, Charles Addams, Paul Klee, B. Kliban and the music culture of the 70s and 80s – these drawings explore subconscious social mores where people float in their environments anticipating a phenomenal occurrence or, in some cases, attempt to make sense of what has already transpired. Animals, an integral thread to this series, are the binding force connecting surreal images of disembodied people and big-haired women. stability meets chaos to form alluring, evocative, tense works filled with interpretive slogans and random advice.
Over 25 works will be on view, as well as the 2012 Dogs Deserve Our Compliments Calendar.
About the Artist: Gordon Henderson is a Los Angeles-based artist and performer whose works-on-paper are primarily done with pen and ink. Populated with people, animals and the occasional inanimate object, the artist’s drawings portray a surreal existence where people appear detached from “reality;” they appear close and yet are cut off from one another. According to the artist, “They are characters in narratives that have had their context stripped away, leaving only emotional implications. The titles are not descriptions or punch lines, but function more as poetic instigation.”
The artist has been an active participant in the DIY movement since the 1980s. Under the alias, Nib Geebles, he has published books, cards and the extremely popular Nib Geebles Calendar which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. His works have been exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles and San Francisco, including Gallery 825, Space and Bucheon, and are in public and private collections, such as that of Michael Brand, former director of the Getty Center.
Henderson’s performances have been seen at I.O. West, the Comedy Central Stage at the Hudson Theater, Celebration Theater and Fanatic Salon.
The artist lives in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles with his frequent collaborators, artist and teacher Abira Ali and their daughter Eliza B. Henderson.
About the Calendar: Since 1986, under the moniker Nib Geebles, Gordon Henderson has been creating his 8 ½ x 11 inch comic art wall calendar featuring interpretive holidays and slogans spread throughout varying months. An edition of 500, Each calendar is signed and numbered by the artist and comes in a clear plastic protective sleeve. Retail price is $12.00 USD per calendar.
Bermudez Projects Downtown LA is at 117 W. 9th Street, Space 810, Los Angeles, California 90015.

Tongal to issue Beach Boys music videos
Tongal (http://tongal.com ), the leading creative social platform, today announced a new project with The Beach Boys and Capitol/EMI to concept and create the first-ever official music videos for two Beach Boys classics, “Good Vibrations” and “Heroes and Villains,” in conjunction with the long awaited release of the legendary music group’s The SMiLE Sessions on November 1. A total of $10,000 and additional prizes, including a custom Hobie longboard signed by The Beach Boys, will be awarded to Tongal users for the top submissions.
“Who better to make the music videos than our fans?” asks The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson. “Our fans mean everything to us and have supported us for a long time. We think this is a special opportunity for us to be able to put the creation of these music videos in the fans’ hands for songs that are so important to us and hopefully to them, as well.”
In 1966 and 1967, The Beach Boys recorded songs and drafts for an album, SMiLE, that was intended to follow the band’s 1966 masterpiece, Pet Sounds. The sessions were ultimately shelved, however, and The Beach Boys’ SMiLE was never released. With full involvement by The Beach Boys, Capitol Records has compiled the definitive collection, The SMiLE Sessions, for worldwide release later this year.
As the finishing touches are put on The SMiLE Sessions, The Beach Boys are looking for music videos for two of their classic songs. Fans have a once in a lifetime opportunity to create fully endorsed and official music videos through Tongal for one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Tongal’s platform allows users from all over the world to create video content and earn cash prizes.
“The Beach Boys are an iconic band and Capitol Records is tapping into the creative and passionate minds of fans for these two classic tracks,” said James DeJulio, President and Co-Founder of Tongal. “This is a unique opportunity to create the official music videos for one of the most famous bands and famous songs ever.”
The project begins today (August 30th) and consists of two phases, a concept phase and a video phase, so there is a place for everyone to contribute, regardless of their skill set. The concept phase calls for fans to conceptualize The Beach Boys music video, in 250 characters or less. Concepts can be for either “Heroes and Villains” or “Good Vibrations.” In the video phase, Tongal users can select one of the five winning concepts from phase one and make a music video based on it. The video can be animated or live-action, trippy or classic – it can be whatever the fans want, as long as it’s their own.

Win a trip to see Dropkick Murphys in Boston
George Killian's Irish Red and Dropkick Murphys have been making noise in the beer industry and music industry for years. Now the two are teaming together to turn that noise into a full-blown ruckus! The George Killian's Irish Red Ruckus invites legal-drinking-age consumers to raise a glass and take a shot at winning a trip to Boston, where they'll have the chance to attend an exclusive Dropkick Murphys concert Nov. 17 at the Paradise Rock Club.
In addition, Killian's has been scouring clubs and concert halls around the country to invite bands for a chance to open at the Irish Red Ruckus. Bands have been enlisting their fans, friends and family to vote for them to get to the Ruckus. Four finalists will be determined by the most votes received in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. A panel of judges will select the opening band, and Killian's will announce the opener on Oct. 12.
"Dropkick Murphys rock, so we're absolutely thrilled to be featuring them at the George Killian's Irish Red Ruckus," said Killian's Brand Manager Brad Johnson. "The band's unique, rockin' Celtic sound is a great fit with Killian's roots."
Known for their complex distillation of classic punk rock, Celtic folk and American rock 'n roll, the critically acclaimed Dropkick Murphys have sold more than four million albums worldwide. Their latest album, Going Out in Style, entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 6 on March 1, 2011. It's the group's sixth consecutive studio effort to chart on The Billboard 200. Going Out of Style is Dropkick Murphys second album released on their own Born & Bred label. The album features guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Fat Mike of NOFX, Chris Cheney of The Living End and more.
Those ages 21 and up can also enter the George Killian's Irish Red Ruckus sweepstakes (void in Calif.) for a chance to win two VIP tickets to the Ruckus. Now through Oct. 15, those eligible can text RUCKUS to 90464 (standard text message rates apply) or visit www.GeorgeKillians.com and complete the online entry. Ten winners will be awarded trips for two to Boston for the exclusive Nov. 17 concert, including air transportation, lodging and spending money.

George Killian's Irish Red is an Irish lager based on an original family recipe that dates back to 1864 in Enniscorthy, Ireland. George Lett first brewed a ruby ale that later became the inspiration for George Killian's Irish Red. He used only pure spring water and the finest caramel malts roasted longer and slower to give his brew a rich red color and distinctive taste. The beer is still known for its rich amber color and thick, creamy head. More information is available at www.GeorgeKillians.com or at www.Facebook.com/GeorgeKillians.

The Australian Pink Floyd Show to tour
The Australian Pink Floyd Show is unquestionably one of the world's top classic rock tribute acts, and the proof comes from praise from two very notable sources.
Floyd drummer Nick Mason has praised TAPFS as “Very good, probably better than we are,” while the group was even engaged by Floyd guitarist David Gilmour to perform at his 50th birthday celebration!
And soon, United States and Canada-based Floyd fans will be able to catch TAPFS in their full live glory, as they have announced a tour running from October 7th through November 12th.
Comprised of band members Steve Mac (vocals/guitar), Colin Wilson (bass and vocals), Jason Sawford (keyboards), David Domminney Fowler (guitar/vocals), Alex McNamara (vocals), Mike Kidson (saxophone), Paul Bonney (drums), Bianca Glynn (vocals), Emily Lynn (vocals), and Lara Smiles (vocals),TAPFS originally formed in 1988. Over the years, the group has played to wildly enthusiastic audiences worldwide (selling 3 million tickets in the process), and paying tribute to the group that issued such all-time classic albums as 'Dark Side of the Moon, 'Wish You Were Here,' and 'The Wall,' as well as the rock radio standards "Money," "Wish You Were Here," "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" and "Comfortably Numb."
And the upcoming U.S. and Canada tour will prove to be something truly special, as TAPFS has created what promises to be their most ambitious and spectacular show ever, as it will see the debut of a new quadraphonic sound system, and represents (for the first time ever) that a live music production has used 3D stereographic technology. On top of this will be an awe-inspiring Floydian style laser and light show as well as a whole host of inflatables – including a gigantic pink kangaroo!
The Australian Pink Floyd Show continues to rack up accolades, including being described as “Setting the gold standard” and being praised as “The best tribute band in the world” (by the Sunday Times) and
“The living embodiement of a Floyd show. If you love the Floyd, you’ll love this.” (by the Liverpool Echo). Soon, fans will be able to experience the ultimate Pink Floyd experience in North America.

MC Lars to tour in support of new album
Post-punk laptop rapper MC LARS will embark on a nationwide trek supporting mc chris with his forthcoming eighth album LARS ATTACKS! in hand (release date: Sept. 6, 2011 on Horris Records). The tour, which kicks off on Sept. 6th in Pittsburgh and concludes in Brooklyn on Oct. 29th also features Mega Ran and Adam WarRock. “I'm incredibly excited to be touring with mc chris again,” beams MC Lars. “He's one of my favorite people in the indie hip-hop world. I'm honored that he asked me to come out with him again. I know it's going to be an amazing tour.”
After spending the summer playing the entire Vans Warped Tour, MC Lars will put his arsenal of new songs and experiences toward this tour. “On Warped, I learned about the power of positive thinking and having pride in what I do,” he explains. “I learned how to make myself stand out amongst 60 other bands and how to win over a ‘mainstream’ fan. I can't wait to take the momentum of this summer and rock it.”
Spiritual in direction and message, Lars Attacks! was written and recorded in Brooklyn, NY. "Lars Attacks! is about attacking the audience with the truth. Every single song on the album is about faith and karma and how that can play out, positively or negatively,” he describes. Co-produced by MC Lars, Mike Sapone (Brand New, Taking Back Sunday), Chris Bittner (Coheed And Cambria, Weerd Science), K. Flay, and Joe Oliger, and mixed by Mike Sapone and Chris Bittner with help from Lars, Lars Attacks! features collaborations with KRS-One, Sage Francis, Weerd Science, Mac Lethal, and John Reuben. “It’s a more serious record and I was able to harness the energy and electricity of being back in New York City for this project- I went back to where hip-hop began. There is nothing really topical or pop culture-related about this album, unlike my previous records, which is why I'm proud of it,” he adds.
A world-renowned post-punk laptop rapper, indie rap entrepreneur, and owner of Horris Records, MC Lars has released eight full-lengths, four EP’s, two DVD’s, two books, and has toured with bands such as Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Gym Class Heroes, Say Anything, Bayside, Simple Plan, Bowling For Soup, Cartel, and many others.
“I'm excited to play jams off of Lars Attacks! because they are harder, more personal, and more lyrically complicated,” he says. “I've grown a lot as an MC and a person this album cycle and it's hella exciting to show the nerdy indie rap kids what I'm up to these days. Lars is attacking America this fall - watch out!!”
LARS ATTACKS! will be released on Sept. 6, 2011 on Horris Records. MC Lars’ mixtape Indie Rocket Science is available FREE at www.music.mclars.com.

The Anix to release new album
With its transportive mix of mood, grunge and electrorock, SoCal-based band The Anix is releasing its second full-length record, SLEEPWALKER, on August 30 via Cleopatra Records. The two-disc package includes twelve original tracks and nine remixes.
Known for sonically massive choruses and constrained electronic verses, The Anix consists of brothers Brandon (singer/guitarist) and Logan Smith (drummer) and keyboardist/guitarist Chris Dinger. The trio often draws from the worlds in graphic novels and the music of NIN, The Cure and Muse. But with SLEEPWALKER, the inspirations were a little different. Explains Brandon, “For this album we wanted to really explore our cinematic influences first, then pull from our musical influences. I wanted the record to sound like a soundtrack to movies like "The Crow" or "The Dark Knight." The bands we were listening to at the time that also helped influence us were Innerpartysystem, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Justice, 30 Seconds to Mars, Filter and The Faint."
SLEEPWALKER was produced by Brandon, Chris Lietz and Jurgen Engler, founder of Die Krupps, the groundbreaking German industrial rock band. He connected with The Anix at SXSW 2010, and that resulted in a darker, more layered sound which included programmed drums on top of live drums, and additional sampling. Brandon also recorded keyboards in Stephan Groth’s “analog synthesizer laboratory” in Norway.
The band recently finished a music video for “Glass,” directed by Chris Do. “Inside the video, we wanted to build this make-believe world that the songs are written in so the viewers can get a better understanding of what our vision is. Our music sounds like it was written a few years into the future, and our vision of the future is a dark, desolate place,” said Brandon.
The Anix entered the scene in 2008 with a critically-acclaimed debut, DEMOLITION CITY. Billboard wrote, “DEMOLITION CITY is an addictive record uniting next-gen new wavers and emo devotees,” comparing tracks to Depeche Mode. “Yes, the songs are more synth-pop then industrial, with Brandon Smith’s tuneful vocals mixed loud and clean over the electronic roar and guitar crunch. But unlike Ministry on their first album, these guys put some real bite into the music here,” wrote Revolver Magazine.
The band found a large and determined fan base overseas touring on DEMOLITION CITY. As Brandon also plays in Apoptygma Berzerk, which has a high profile there, The Anix is going to continue developing its relationships all over the world, with European and South American tours planned in addition to dates in America.
SLEEPWALKER is on iTunes, amazon.com and at record stores August 30.
