Bell Garden Skate Park will play host to the third annual Red Bull 7 City Hustle, the ultimate cross-town skateboarding showdown. The event will pit skaters from seven Los Angeles County cities against each other in an epic skate contest. Each city represented has its own local skate park, and a select few skaters from each will travel to Bell Gardens to prove they (and their city) are the best. The seven cities fighting for supremacy in this all-day, all-out skate battle include: Compton, Montebello, Hawaiian Gardens, Bell Gardens, Lynwood, Downey and Huntington Park. This is the third year for Red Bull 7 City Hustle –Bell Gardens has won the contest for the last two years, earning them the honor of hosting the event again this year. More information is available at www.redbullusa.com/7cityhustle.
Each of the participating cities will have a team of nine, split into three different age brackets. Of the nine, three riders must be aged 7-10, three must be ages 11-14 and three must be ages 15-17. In this competition format skaters are judged as a team, rather than as individuals. The judges will pick team winners for the following categories:
Team Prize – The team that (as a whole) showcases the best technical skill and team unity during the 7-minute team skate session.
Features Prize – During a special “features” session, each of the nine skaters must focus on one feature (kidney pool, handrail, etc.). The winning team will show the most creative and successful tricks on each feature. They will receive a new Red Bull branded feature for their home skate park.
First Place City (Combo of Both Sections) – This team will win the honor of hosting Red Bull 7 City Hustle in 2012.
WHO: Local skateboarders (aged 7-17) representing their East L.A. city and fighting for victory and the bragging rights that come with it. Red Bull professional athletes and skateboarding industry experts will serve as judges for the competition.
