Bernie Pearl performances in September

Hello Blues Fans: It has been an exciting Summer for me so far. A new CD, trips to Texas (see attached photo from Mance Lipscomb Festival, 8/13), and more...
Here are some bits of news I'd like to share, along with some upcoming appearances.

First, while our friend, boss, and great vocalist Barbara Morrison recovers from surgery and gathers her resources to further promote events at her marvelous Performing Arts Center, we are suspending the Blue Monday Jam. We hope to be back jamming in Leimert Park soon. We have a real good time enjoying some real good Blues.

The Bernie Pearl L.A. Blues Revue Sunday, September 18
Barbara has resumed performing, and will be singing the blues with us when the Ash Grove concert series continues in the lovely courtyard of the Tropico de Nopal Gallery. The show will feature the world-renown Ms Morrison with the Bernie Pearl Blues Band. Also on the bill is powerful vocalist and original writer Sherry Pruitt, plus Big Jamie Powell singing his "about as blues as you can get" originals. The band also features vocals by dynamic sax man Bobby "Hurricane" Spencer. The show will open with guitarist Pearl and bassist Mike Barry performing tunes from their latest acoustic CD, "Sittin' On the Right Side of the Blues".
Sunday, September 18, 2:00-4:30, Tropico de Nopal Gallery, 1665 Beverly Blvd., LA Ca 90026. General admission $15, seniors and students $10. (213) 481-8112. http://www.ashgrovemusic.com/

"Sittin' On the Right Side of the Blues", new CD Released!
Speaking of our new CD, I received a terrific review by Mark C. Tucker on the F.A.M.E. (Folk and Music Exchange)

Review is also attached above.
I have been mailing airplay and review copies throughout the Blues world, and the reaction has been very good. Starting to get airplay, and the "Wagman" on Jazz/Blues powerhouse KJAZZ featured several cuts in a featured spot last Sunday. "Sittin' On the Right Side of the Blues" is available online at

I will also have them for sale at all appearances.

Blues in Laramie
In a few days, over Labor Day weekend, Michael, Albert, and I are going to Wyoming to play several sets at the Snowy Range Music Festival in Laramie, both acoustic and electric. In addition to playing our own sets, we'll be doing backup for one of the main stage acts, Miss Blues, and playing for the Blues Dancers set, and doing a guitar workshop. We'll be making a side trip to Casper to play a house concert/street party. Busy weekend, lots of fun.

Poetry Gets the Blues Saturday, September 24
My brother, poet Sherman Pearl, and I will be doing another Poetry Gets the Blues presentation on Saturday, September 24, 7:30-10:00 at the Rumor Mill Cafe, 11739 W. Washington Bl., Los Angeles (next to Culver City). In a half-hour presentation, we recite poems and play the blues, in a program of spoken word and music featuring several artists. Free admission. Information (310) 397-5400, or go to website.

I hope to see you soon. Have a good Labor Day holiday. Bernie
