Curtiss Maldoon, Carl Palmer and Tangerine Dream albums to be released

Eagle Rock Entertainment is making available some very tasty European Rock this summer.

On August 23, Sepheryn, by Curtiss Maldoon, will be available. Singer/ songwriter/guitarists Dave Curtiss and Clive Maldoon came to prominence in their native England with guitarist Steve Howe (who would go on to fame in Yes). Their band Bodast quickly splintered into a duo that made two rare early ‘70s masterpieces. Sepheryn contains the entire debut, portions of its follow-up, a very rare single and some never-before-released tracks. Stylistically varied, it ranges from cool pop to balladry to heavier material, and includes the title track which Madonna later reworked into “Ray Of Light.” Steve Howe, organist Tony Ashton, and bassist Bruce Thomas (who would later join Elvis Costello) are also heard on this album. [MSRP $13.98]

Working Live Volume #1 and Working Live Volume #2, available August 23, are flip sides of a very adventurous project by one of the most respected rock drummers, Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Asia). The Carl Palmer Band, in 2003, with guitarist Shaun Baxter and bassist Dave Marks, unveiled the first of two sets of live interpretations of some of Palmer’s most famous works that were originally recorded with ELP or on previous solo albums. The following year, the same trio explored more classics as well as adding some new originals, as recorded while the trio toured England. {MSRP $13.98]

On August 30, Tangerine Dream’s Live In America will also be available. Caught crossing the States in 1992 promoting their Rockoon album, Tangerine Dream’s set that year was atmospheric and dramatic. In ‘92, this acclaimed German band was in its 25th year of existence with seven Grammy nominations (one of which was Rockoon for “Best New Age Album”), and a ton of respect. Electronica bands all over the world have since been inspired by these totally creative musicians and it’s all on display right here. [MSRP $13.98]
