Aimee Mann Christmas show in LA Dec. 10

Hang the mistletoe and break out the eggnog, Aimee Mann announces her sixth annual Christmas Show on December 10th at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. A cast of merry musicians and festive comedians will join Aimee to sing a mixture of holiday standards and original tunes from Mann’s classic ode to the season, One More Drifter in the Snow. Mann’s holiday variety show has quickly become a yuletide tradition, selling out before Santa has time to call out the reindeer. Past shows have brought out a star studded cast of carolers that has included John C. Reilly, Jeff Goldblum, John Krasinski, Ben Gibbard, Zooey Deschanel, Will Ferrell and many others. This year’s very special guests will include Michael Penn, Paul F. Thompkins, Tim Heidecker, Nellie McKay and Andy Daly, with more to be announced.

“For those of us who wrestle with warring impulses -- bah, humbug the holidays or succumb to the twinkly lights -- Aimee Mann has created an old-fashioned Christmas variety show that reminds us that it's possible to have our cynicism and eat our fruitcake too.”- Boston Globe.

Aimee has spent the better part of 2011 writing, recording and touring, with one memorable date at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to play the ultimate house concert for The First Lady and President Obama’s Poetry Night at the White House. She also took a turn honing her comedic acting skills, starring as herself on an episode of the comedy series “Portlandia” with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.

As an early gift to her fans, Aimee will give a sneak peek into her upcoming album and play a new song at the Christmas show. Charmer, Mann’s 8th solo album, will be released in spring 2012. Inspired by the classic sounds of the 80’s, she explores yet another aspect of the human character, charm. “I'm very interested in the mechanism of charm”, Aimee says, “whether it's the kind of charm that is fun and engaging and entertaining, or the kind of charm that is manipulative and coercive and dangerous.” Further details and guest artist will be announced in January when Aimee hits the road for her first tour dates of the year.

One More Drifter in the Snow, Aimee Mann's first Christmas CD released through her own SuperEgo Records, has continued to be a holiday standard with O magazine hailing it as an “intimate take on the season.” Aimee explains, “I wanted to do a Christmas record that reflected the whole range of emotions that people have around Christmas. I thought a lot about the feeling I had about Christmas as a kid, the almost spooky beauty and mystery that the holiday has, and wanted to do something that echoed that musically.”

Look for One More Drifter in the Snow online and in stores now, with Aimee’s new album Charmer to debut in spring 2012. Aimee and her cast of Christmas elves take the stage on December 10th at the Wiltern in Los Angeles.
