Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra is spotlighting at its annual gala, The Crystal Ball, on February 11, 2012, 5 pm, at The California Club in downtown Los Angeles, Music Director Jeffrey Kahane in celebration of his 15th anniversary, traditionally known as the "crystal" anniversary. The festive event features virtuosic musical tributes honoring Kahane, hosted by LACO concertmaster Margaret Batjer with internationally renowned pianist Jon Kimura Parker and members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and includes spectacular live and silent auctions, dinner and dancing. Proceeds benefit LACO’s concert series, radio broadcasts and community engagement programs.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's (LACO) five-concert “Baroque Conversations” series showcasing exceptional Baroque music continues its 6th year with a performance led by LACO Principal Keyboard Patricia Mabee on Thursday, February 16, 2012, 7 pm, at Zipper Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. The program features Vivaldi's Trio Sonata in D minor, Op. 1, No. 12, RV 63, “La folia” (“Madness”); Soler's Fandango in D minor, S. 146; Sanz's Pavanas & Canarios; Ganspeck’s Overture in A major for Viola d’Amore & Violin; music from Campra's Les fêtes vénitiennes (“The Venetian Festivals”); music from Lully's Atys; music from Rameau's Dardanus; and music from Campra's L’Europe galante (“Galant Europe”). Mabee, celebrating her 35th year with the Orchestra, and other LACO artists share their insights into the music from the stage and invite questions from the audience. A complimentary pre-concert wine reception for ticket-holders begins at 6 pm.

Music Director Jeffrey Kahane and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO), long committed to creating innovative high-caliber programs to introduce children to classical music, present the first of three Family Concerts, recommended for ages 5 to 105. Designed for children with little or no previous musical experience, LACO Family Concerts provide a performance at 2 pm prefaced by creative activities from 1 pm to 2 pm to amuse, enrich and involve them, including an “Instrument Petting Zoo” where youngsters handle and play brass, woodwind and string instruments. On Sunday, February 26, 2012, 2 pm, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, prominent Brooklyn-based ensemble PROJECT Trio join conductor Jacoma Bairos and the Orchestra for a program that takes a fresh look at Copland's Appalachian Spring and includes original works by PROJECT Trio. PROJECT Trio, proclaimed by Downbeat Magazine as “packed with musicianship, joy and surprise!” is comprised of Greg Pattillo, flute, Eric Stephenson, cello, and Peter Seymour, bass, who provide a high octane new creative direction as LACO's new “Family Concerts artists-in-residence” for the next three seasons.
