Descanso Gardens to offer concerts & family fun starting June 21

Figuring out your summer picnics and concerts? Well look no further, Descanso Gardens' 2012 Family Tuesdays and Music on the Main lineup will help you enjoy summer evenings and the outdoors all season long.



Music on the Main 2012

Enjoy 10 cool Thursday evenings in the Gardens with live music from some of best jazz artists in the Southland. Descanso Gardens welcomes back some fan favorites from summers past, and some faces new to the Main Lawn. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, picnics and friends to savor the sounds of jazz! All concerts are free with admission and begin at 6 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

July 5 Dan Reckard Brazilian music from an up-and-coming artist

Family Tuesdays 2011

These hands-on activities and performances are sure to entertain children of all ages (and grownups too!) Picnics are encouraged while kids and adults enjoy a variety of music, theater and garden events. All performances are free with admission and begin at 6 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.



June 26 A Faery Hunt Theater*

Storytelling, singing, games and more with a whole cast of woodland creatures and colorful faeries

July 3 The Banana Slug String Band

Straight outta Santa Cruz, this funky crew brings together science, song and celebration

July 10 "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum*

Shakespeare's enchanting woodland comedy comes alive under the Descanso oaks

July 17 Rhythm Child Family Band*

It just isn't summer at Descanso without a visit from this perennial fave! Grab your drum and play along

July 24 Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band

Billed by USA TODAY as the Best New Kids Artist of 2011, this trio provides bouncy music that appeals to all ages

July 31 Elizabethan Festival with the Will Geer Theatricum*

Enjoy an evening of interactive theater performance and dance

About Descanso Gardens:

Established as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La CaƱada Flintridge, near the interchange of the 2 and 210 freeways. The Gardens are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, members welcome at 8 a.m. Closed Christmas Day. Admission is free for members and children 4 and younger. $8 for adults; $6 for seniors and students; $3 for children 5 to 12. Parking is free.
