The Stone Foxes to release album and tour

The video for lead track “Everybody Knows” off Small Fires, the long awaited album from Bay Area-based band The Stone Foxes, is streaming now at: http://music-mix.ew.com/2013/01/15/stone-foxes-everybody-knows-video/. Of the track Shannon Koehler (drums, harp, vocals) notes, “The idea for the video was to bring the lyrics to life, and match the eerie mood of the music. With the lyrical plot being loosely based on Edgar Allen Poe's ‘A Tale Tell Heart,’ we tried to make the movie dark, spooky, and increasingly chaotic to convey madness. The heart of the young boy is constantly spliced in to serve as the anchor of the story, and is meant to haunt the viewer through the movie like it haunts the businessman.”

Small Fires, due February 12 on INgrooves Fontana, was recorded at The Carriage House in Los Angeles and produced by Doug Boehm (Dr. Dog, Drive by Truckers). The new record follows the band’s 2010 sophomore album Bears & Bulls that USA Today described as “irresistible” and the San Francisco Chronicle claimed “rules!” Of the new record Elliot Peltzman (keys, vocals) notes, “making Small Fires with Doug Boehm felt like being in a dream.” The band will continue to support the release with tour dates throughout 2013, including a stop at SXSW in March.

The Stone Foxes, who formed in late 2005, is comprised of brothers Shannon and Spence (guitar, vocals) Koehler, Aaron Mort (bass, drums, vocals) and Elliott Peltzman. The band started out performing in San Francisco, writing, even on stage as they played, and have opened for critically acclaimed artists including Cage the Elephant and Grammy-winners The Black Keys. They spent the past year touring extensively, including stops at Wakarusa, Outside Lands, Voodoo Music Experience and Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival.
