Busdriver hitting the road today

Los Angeles rapper Busdriver (born Regan Farquhar) is taking a break from writing and recording his new record, the yet-untitled follow-up to last year’s RoadKillOvercoat, to tour with Dizzee Rascal and EL-P starting in Washington DC on May 8th.

Prolific, with an auctioneer’s flow and an insight well beyond his years, Busdriver also recorded a new track “Ellen Disingenuous,” which will be for sale on iTunes May 27th and free on several blogs. And while the track may or may not make it onto the new record, it provides an insight into the direction BD is going with his new material. Filled with the electronic flourishes that punctuate his most recent work, “Ellen D” also showcases the rapid fire vocal wizardry that helped Busdriver rise through the ranks of local MCs.

Busdriver has shared the stage with everyone from hip hop visionary RJD2 to acclaimed indie outfit Deerhoof to theatrical folk-tronic duo Cocorosie. It is Busdriver’s stunning feats of lyrical aptitude and his ability to appeal to the irony of the indie scene while still providing the booty shaking beats requisite in the hip hop world that have made him so well-regarded in both.
