Sweet to perform at Canyon Club in Agoura Hills

SWEET RETURN TO SOUTHLAND FOR CANYON CLUB SHOW; “ACTION: THE SWEET ANTHOLOGY” AVAILABLE ON SHOUT! FACTORY APRIL 28TH


WHO: Popular UK rock band Sweet led by bassist/vocalist Steve Priest will perform their hits: Ballroom Blitz, Fox on the Run, Love is Like Oxygen, Little Willy, Hellraiser, Teenage Rampage, Blockbuster, Action and many others.

COMMENT: According to USA Today: “A blitz may be coming to your local ballroom. Bassist Steve Priest, a founding member of Sweet, has reconstituted the glittery fuzz-rock band that ignited U.K. and U.S. charts with such ‘70s hits as Ballroom Blitz, Little Willy, Fox on the Run and Love Is Like Oxygen. The Are you Ready Steve? Tour kicks off June 12 at The Whisky in Hollywood, with guitarist Stuart Smith, singer Joe Retta, drummer Richie Onori and keyboardist Stevie Stewart…Priest’s reconfiguration plans to revisit all the historic Sweet spots, including Blockbuster, Action, Hellraiser and Teenage Rampage.”

Shout! Factory will be releasing the two-CD set “Action: The Sweet Anthology” on April 28th.

In additional to drawing big crowds at shows during their tour, a new generation of fans of all ages are learning about Sweet through various outlets. “Life On Mars” has featured “Little Willy,” and “Ballroom Blitz” extensively on two of their TV episodes. “So Your Think You Can Dance?” is using “Ballroom Blitz” in its promos. Sweet songs have been featured in numerous movies including: Mike Meyer’s “Wayne’s World” (Blitz,) “Dazed and Confused” (Fox on the Run,) Andrian Grenier’s “Drive Me Crazy” (Little Willy,) Joan Collins’ “The Stud” (Love Is Like Oxygen,) “Curse Of the Crimson Altar (Fox) and “Hot Fuzz” (Blitz). Mitsubishi recently used Blitz for a car commercial and the many players of the mass appeal video game franchises “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band” are becoming Sweet fans due their classic songs being featured in these games.
