Q-Tip’s long-delayed album Kamaal the Abstract, slated originally for release in 2001, is finally dropping today, September 15th, on Battery Records. It’s a daring mélange of soul, supa-cool jazz, head nodding hip-hop, and organic pop magic produced entirely by Q-Tip himself. Kamaal has been re-mixed and re-mastered for sonic impact with a new bonus track added, “Make It Work.”

On Wednesday night, Q-Tip stops by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform the track “Barely In Love.” Kamaal the Abstract players Chris Sholar (guitar), Guyora Kats (keys), Sun Singleton (backing vocals) and Kiki Hawkins (backing vocals) will join him as well as members of the house band, The Roots. The show airs at 12:35/11:35pm on NBC.

The entire Kamaal the Abstract album stream and exclusive webisodes featuring stories behind each track can be found on Q-Tip’s MySpace and official website.
