Sharing Fruit & Reducing Waste during the
Fruit Fly Quarantine
A conversation with officials from the USDA and CDFA hosted by Arroyo Time Bank, Altadena Heritage, and RIPE Altadena
January 15, 2011
10:00 am – 11:00 am
2485 Marengo, Altadena
Please enter this private residence through the pedestrian gate.
Are you aware of the Oriental Fruit Fly (OFF) Quarantine currently affecting Altadena and surrounding areas? Do you have questions about the rules of the quarantine?
Arroyo Time Bank is working to create a neighborhood fruit-picking and processing project that can help utilize the excess fruit in our area in compliance with the quarantine regulations. If you have excess citrus or other quarantined fruit you would like to share, please come to this meeting to learn how to do so while complying with the quarantine regulations. Officials from the USDA and CDFA will join us at this community meeting to answer our questions about the quarantine and about the paperwork we need to complete in order to make our community food programs compliant with quarantine rules.
Come and participate in making Altadena a model for how communities under quarantine can eliminate food waste.
Please contact Kristin Petherbridge (littlelief@hotmail.com) or Gloria Putnam (zanegreyestate-altadena@yahoo.com) with any questions or for more information.
