Mushrooms class and kids' fun at Descanso Gardens in February

Discovering Mushrooms, 9:30 a.m. Feb. 5: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. Mycologist Florence Nishida leads a program that includes a one-hour lecture giving basic information about mushrooms, then a walk to find and identify the many fungal species that live in Descanso Gardens. Winter Acorn Bear, 10:30 a.m. Feb. 4: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. This four-week version of Descanso’s popular “Toddler Treks With Acorn Bear” includes story time, crafts and a snack. About Descanso Gardens: Established as a public garden in 1954, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, near the interchange of the 2 and 210 freeways. The Gardens are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas Day. Parking is free.
