Scala & Kolacny Brothers added to Coachella lineup

Scala & Kolacny Brothers, the other-worldly, all-female Belgian indie rock choir led by pianist/composer Steven Kolacny and his brother, conductor Stijn Kolacny, will play the 2011 Coachella festival in April, with a slot on the festival's first day, Friday, the 15th.

The seraphic-voiced choir, which features a rotating cast of over 200 girls, has exploded on the international scene with its imaginative reinterpretations of the likes of Radiohead, U2, and Nirvana and its original compositions.

2011 finds the group building buzz stateside, and the Coachella booking continues to affirm that Scala & Kolacny Brothers defy the traditional notion of a choir. They have garnered heaps of critical praise from the likes of the LA Times, NPR, Billboard, AOL Spinner and Stereogum. MTV.com applauds their "beautiful original compositions" and USA Today raved that Scala's takes on rock classics "Creep" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit," featured on 2010's 'Dawn' EP, are "even more haunting than the originals".

Further propelling their momentum, Scala original "Our Last Fight" was recently featured on an episode of hit show 'Sons of Anarchy.' They'll also be playing the SXSW music festival at the legendary Stubb's BBQ on Friday, March 18, and will be playing a number of selective first dates throughout North America in April.
