Attention musicians, aspiring rock stars, fame seekers, and celebrity followers: The name behind such world famous music acts as New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Britney Spears, the Jonas Brothers and many more is looking for you!
Cambio and AT&T1 today announced they will launch ‘On the Spot: Johnny Wright’s Quest for the Next Supergroup,’ a 22-episode webseries featuring legendary music manager Johnny Wright, in January 2011. Over the course of 25 weeks, participants will audition as part of the biggest global talent search ever conceived for the chance to become part of what may become the next global pop sensation group. The series will be available at onthepsot.cambio.com as well as via AT&T U-verse® TV, U-verse Online (http://www.uverseonline.com ), and select AT&T mobile devices.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Cambio and AT&T to utilize the collaborative nature of the Internet and mobile technology to search for the next big music act,” said Johnny Wright. “No one has ever been able to reach all the way around the world at once to find the best talent, and simultaneously hear feedback from the fans. I can’t wait to get started.”
‘On the Spot’ will be broken down into three phases:
Global Video Auditions: December 8 – February 25
In the audition phase (December 8-January 28), Johnny accepts video auditions from aspiring musicians, 18-30 years of age, (16-30 years of age for legal U.S. citizens and residents) from around the world. After January 28, Johnny will start to narrow the field in the first few episodes of the web series.
Challenge Round: February 25 – April 29
Johnny puts the top 20 participants through a series of challenges where he and surprise guests will test their artistic prowess, drive, business savvy and passion. This phase of programming will determine the finalists.
FINALS: April 29 – June 3
The finalists will be flown to Los Angeles to be put through Johnny’s “Boot Camp,” an intensive workshop of rehearsals, dance choreography, vocal lessons, and media training, this is where the final band will be crafted and announced
To further engage consumers in the online series, the Cambio audience will be able to interact with Johnny Wright via live chats, vote on their favorite contestants, and more. In addition, fans will find extensive behind-the-scenes footage and bonus content on Cambio.com.
“Cambio.com is the perfect platform for a global initiative like On the Spot,” said Erin Clift, SVP Global Sales Development. “Our goal is to constantly raise the bar in digital entertainment for our audience. Bringing them a chance to be a part of what may become the next biggest pop music sensation is the type of access we feel we owe to our consumers. We couldn’t be happier to be partnering with Johnny Wright and AT&T on this exciting venture.”
At times during the series, the global participants will be given the opportunity to use AT&T mobile phones and netbooks to communicate with Johnny and complete challenges. Additionally, there will be opportunities for fans to win AT&T products and services throughout the run of the series.
“This webseries is what the AT&T Rethink PossibleSM brand is all about, and we are excited to work with both Cambio and Johnny Wright to deliver a global music competition of a size and caliber never before seen by the world,” said Steve Governale, Executive Director of Interactive and Innovation, AT&T Media Services. “With ‘On the Spot,’ we are truly pushing the limits of what’s possible by connecting the world in a viral music competition while also allowing us to showcase AT&T’s wireless products and services.”
