Third Wheel, the woodwind trio that turns the classical world upside down, will present a concert of “Feel. Good. Music.” at the Coffee Gallery Backstage on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at 8 p.m.
Take a musical journey with Third Wheel as we explore an eclectic array of music as you have never heard it before. Flute, clarinet and bassoon join forces to shed new light on the music of The Beatles, Claude Bolling, John Williams, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Take an excursion toward undiscovered musical territory with World War I-era composer Leonardo DeLorenzo, and get acquainted with up-and-coming composers of today like Southern California’s own Mark Popeney and Sean Watkins.
By transforming the traditional roles of woodwind instruments in new and exciting ways, Third Wheel re-imagines rock ‘n’roll as Mozart would have written it. This special engagement at the intimate Coffee Gallery Backstage will provide a relaxed listening room environment equipped with comfortable seating and killer atmosphere: the perfect way to enjoy an evening of music that is truly feel-good. Third Wheel was founded in 2007 and is dedicated to performing chamber music with programs that are innovative and unconventional. This program contains some of our favorite selections, as well as those that have endeared us to audiences throughout Southern California.
