Robin Adler & Dave Blackburn bring Joni Mitchell to Altadena March 21

The timeless music of Joni Mitchell, who practically defined what we today call the singer-songwriter, is a treasure trove of priceless jewels for the rare performer skilled enough to wear them. At every show, in every town they have played, in Europe and the US, Southern California’s Robin Adler and Dave Blackburn have dazzled audiences with their mastery of this opulent musical legacy.

From Joni Mitchell’s early folk-based songs, through her radio hits to the jazzier adventures of her later work, Robin and Dave have fashioned a sparkling show that features original arrangements and masterful vocal and guitar virtuosity. Prepare to be transported! They leave their audiences moist-eyed and deeply moved, every time.

Robin Adler is a highly-trained vocalist with a strong jazz background and more than two decades of concert experience. Her guitarist (and husband) Dave Blackburn is an award winning songwriter, guitar teacher and established record producer and has been a longtime contributor of transcriptions to Joni Mitchell’s official website JoniMitchell.com, where their 2010 CD release Safaris to the Heart: The Songs of Joni Mitchell was featured on the home page for many months. In 2010 they were the cover story in the San Diego Troubadour and performed live on the radio prior to embarking on their European tour in the Fall.

Reviewer’s comments "Robin Adler performs the amazing feat of keeping the spirit of the songs intact while making them her own. And, in some instances, she achieves a level of soulful intensity that transcends the originals."

"Safaris is a masterpiece! I was late for work this morning; I couldn't tear myself away. I just sat in my car in the parking lot, mesmerized. "

"It's like discovering Joni Mitchell all over again, they are THAT good."
