Cherry blossom festival at Descanso Gardens March 19-20

Cherry Blossom Festival, March 19-20: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. Descanso unveils a new Japanese-themed festival tied to the blooming of its beautiful cherry trees. Witness a traditional Japanese tea ceremony Saturday at 11 a.m., 12:30 and 2 p.m. There will be a Japanese cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. Sunday. Take a guided tour of the Gardens’ seven flowering cherry trees at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days. Cherry trees will be available for purchase. The Camellia Lounge will sell a signature cocktail created especially for the festival, as well as bento box lunches on both days. Free with admission: $8 adults, $6 senior/students and $3 children 5-12.

About Descanso Gardens: Established as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, near the interchange of the 2 and 210 freeways. The Gardens are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas Day. Parking is free. Admission fees are $8 for adults; $6 for seniors and students with I.D.; $3 for children 5 to 12, and free for members and children 4 and younger.
