Saga to release new album

Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Records subsidiary, will release Heads Or Tails Live by Saga on CD June 14. The long-respected progressive rock outfit from Canada has been rocking stages and studios since 1977 and, as this 2010 concert affirms, is still going strong. [MSRP $13.98]

With new lead singer Rob Moratti and new drummer Brian Doerner, Saga blasts its way through its entire Heads Or Tails album. Moratti, a long-time Toronto prog rocker, has since left the band to make way for the return of original vocalist Michael Sadler. The band continues to tour to this day with Sadler, Doerner, bassist/keyboardist Jim Crichton, lead guitarist Ian Crichton and keyboardist/clarinetist/vocalist Jim Gilmour.

Originally known as The Pockets, Saga was formed in 1977 Ontario by bassist Crichton and vocalist Sadler, its primary songwriters. Its self-titled 1978 debut preceded 1979’s Images At Twilight which charted in Canada, followed by 1980’s Silent Knight. The band broke in the States with 1981’s Worlds Apart, winning a JUNO Award in ’82 (the Canadian Grammy equivalent) as “Most Promising Group of The Year.” Heads Or Tails has long been considered the band’s masterpiece. It was originally released in 1983.
