The Byrds Collective and Surfin' Safari in Redondo Beach Sept. 2

The Sounds of The Hollywood Bowl–1965 Can Be Heard Again In Los Angeles

It’s been 45 years since the strains of "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "California Girls," played by the original Byrds and Beach Boys, were heard at their famous June 1966 Hollywood Bowl Concert. Now those great songs, and others, can be heard at one show for one night only on September 2, 2011.

The Byrds Collective, A Tribute To The Byrds, have just announced that they will be performing with Los Angeles' own Surfin’ Safari®, The Ultimate Tribute To The Beach Boys for one night only at Brixton’s in Redondo Beach.

About The Byrds Collective: The Byrds Collective recreates the sound of The Byrds from 1965 to 1970 right down to the three part harmonies. The group consists of Mark Miraglia as Roger McGuinn, David Michaels as David Crosby, Chuck Maiden as the late Gene Clark, Pat Hayes as Chris Hillman and David Denk portraying the late Michael Clarke.

“It was an era of incredible innovation and creativity in popular music and in our whole culture.” said Dave Michaels, who portrays singer-guitarist David Crosby in the Collective. “Along with the Beatles, the Byrds were one of the driving forces of that era. Those heavenly harmonies, that jangly guitar and those fantastic songs sound just as fresh and vital today as when they were first created.”

The Byrds Collective have been performing almost non-stop since March of this year. “The audiences are really enthusiastic when they hear this music.” said Pat Hayes, “It takes them back to a time when things seemed simpler and less chaotic. They really enjoy hearing some really great songs”.

About Surfin’ Safari®: Surfin’ Safari® is a faithful recreation of what it would have been like to see The Beach Boys live, in concert, in their prime. This 5 member line up is unrivaled in their sound, presentation, and professionalism. There are NO BACKING TRACKS or extra musicians playing off-stage!

The Byrds Collective and Surfin’ Safari® will be performing this September 2, 2011 at the Brixton – Redondo Beach, 100 W. Torrance Blvd Redondo Beach, California 90277. Show starts at 8:00 PM and reservations can be made by calling (310) 406-1931 or from the website www.tickets.brixtonsouthbay.com
