With over a decade of successful Fairs worldwide and over a million visitors globally, the Affordable Art Fair will be on the West Coast for the first time, January 18 – 22 at the Event Deck at L.A. Live. The Fair has enthusiastically announced Free Arts for Abused Children as the opening night beneficiary.
On January 18, the Affordable Art Fair LA will host the Exclusive Benefit Reception for Free Arts for Abused Children, an organization that inspires hope in the lives of abused, homeless and at-risk youth through volunteer-led creative arts programs. To aid the work of the non-profit, the Fair will donate 100% of ticket proceeds from the event held on January 18, 5pm-7:30pm. By purchasing a ticket to the event, Fair-goers will not only be supporting this worthy cause but also be the very first to see the nearly 300 artists on view. The Fair is honored to provide not only the ticket proceeds to this incredible foundation, but also to help raise awareness of Free Arts amongst the Fair’s sizeable and international audience.
“In 2010 Free Arts for Abused Children reached nearly 30,000 children in foster care, that are homeless, and/or at-risk because of factors such as poverty, substance abuse and community violence,” says Judith Pineiro, Director of the Affordable Art Fair US. “We at the Affordable Art Fair want to help them reach as many children possible in the coming year through our Exclusive Benefit Reception. Art needs to be a part of all of our lives, and most importantly part of a child’s life.”
In addition to the opening night of Affordable Art Fair Los Angeles, Free Arts for Abused Children will have a visible presence through the duration of the Fair as attendees have the opportunity to learn more about the foundation at a promotional kiosk and/or make a contribution, if they choose.
“We believe that creative opportunities for youth will change our Los Angeles community for the better. It is in this spirit that Free Arts embraces the Fair’s mission to make art accessible to everyone. The funds donated from the Exclusive Benefit Reception will go a long way in inspiring hope, creating understanding, and nurturing self-esteem in the lives of vulnerable children in our community,” says Annie Armbrust, Executive Director of Free Arts for Abused Children.
The Affordable Art Fair
The Affordable Art Fair celebrates the idea that art should be for everyone. The L.A. edition will showcase contemporary artwork from local, national and international galleries, priced from $100 - $10,000, with half of the work below $5,000. The Fair will offer special programming including educational presentations, sponsored talks, curated exhibitions and hands-on children’s activities. As art tastes vary within each region, the Fair will reflect the uniqueness of Los Angeles with exhibitors specifically chosen to fit the design aesthetic and culture of California.
Of note, the Affordable Art Fair has also formed partnerships with other brands including LA Confidential Magazine, Paper Magazine, California Homes Magazine, Fabrik Magazine, LA Weekly, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA), Bonhams, Travelers Inland Marine and more.
