Mayer Hawthorne to headlining tour

Dynamic and debonair alternative soul savant MAYER HAWTHORNE will embark on the "How Do You Do" tour, his very first U.S. headline run, starting April 16 at Webster Hall in New York, NY. Supporting his critically acclaimed UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC RECORDS debut, HOW DO YOU DO, he'll be bringing the album to life nightly with his smooth delivery and inimitable charm.

Fan and critical fervor for HAWTHORNE has proven utterly contagious across the globe. Already, the tour's Chicago date at Park West has sold out, and demand was so high in Minneapolis that the Fine Line Music Cafe show sold out in less than 12 hours and was consequentially moved to First Avenue (First Ave is now sold out)—twice the size of the original venue. New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco (Boston and DC as well) are also on track to sell out. Outside of the U.S., he's been selling out dates in Auckland, Melbourne, London, Manchester, and Paris, Cologne. However, the "How Do You Do" tour is going to be a very special jaunt, and it's one of the hottest tickets of the spring.

"No Strings", the next single from HOW DO YOU DO, will officially hit radio on April 2nd and Hot Adult Contemporary will begin spinning the record's first single, "The Walk", simultaneously. In the midst of the tour, he'll also play the VH1 Save the Music Event in Napa, further promoting the singles.

In other news, HAWTHORNE has teamed up with rising UK hip hop upstarts Rizzle Kicks for an alternate take on "The Walk". The music video for this slick collaboration debuted on World Pop Videos March 30, 2012. The clip sees these artists smoothly sauntering through the streets of London while encouraging "the wrong one" to take a "walk".

Critical darlings Rizzle Kicks have received unanimous acclaim from the likes of Q, The Guardian, and NME for their gold-certified 2011 UK debut Stereo Typical. So, it was a no-brainer for the duo to join forces with the singer whose buzz matches theirs across the pond. Their elegant rhymes seamlessly complement the hook's soulful crooning, driving "The Walk" down a different street altogether. It brings together daring and diverse artists from separates sides of the Atlantic, making for the ultimate goodbye jam and a collaboration of epic proportions.

Not only is HOW DO YOU DO a critical favorite, but audiences have embraced it everywhere. In just five months, sales of HAWTHORNE’s latest effort have surpassed that of his popular 2009 offering, A Strange Arrangement. He continues to wow tastemakers as well. Spin wrote, "…rap fanboy morphs into credible crooner …his increasingly confident cries and grooves and songwriting aplomb are undeniably pro". Acclaim for Mayer’s sound has also come from publications such as Rolling Stone, Esquire, Detroit Free Press, and Exclaim! He's also Snoop Dogg's "favorite new artist", and Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, and John Mayer have all taken to Twitter to proclaim their adoration.

Be sure to say "How Do You Do" when MAYER HAWTHORNE hits your town this Spring.
