2NE1, best new band winners, to tour

This summer, 2NE1, winners of the 2011 MTV Iggy "Best New Band In The World" competition will kick off their first World Tour, "New Evolution," on July 28 at Seoul's Olympic Stadium. The four female 2NE1 members, CL, Dara, Bom and Minzy, will visit 10 cities in 7 countries throughout Asia, the Americas and Europe on the Live Nation sponsored tour. 2NE1 will become the first Korean girl group to headline a world tour without supporting acts or a male K-Pop group to co-headline. Fans can check out their electrifying style and high energy performances during their US tour stops on August 17 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey and August 24 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

Having only been together for 3 years, 2011 proved to be a breakthrough year for 2NE1 when they were voted "Best New Band In The World" by MTV Iggy. They also received "Song Of The Year" honors at Asia's M.net Awards for the 2.7 million selling #1 single "I Am The Best." "I Am The Best" music video has achieved over 48 million views online and 2NE1 has sold an astonishing 27 million digital downloads to date. Their musical introduction to the US has been critically acclaimed with SPIN Magazine calling them "K-Pop Heroes" and selecting their latest release 2nd Mini Album on their "20 Best Pop Albums of 2011." 2NE1 supporter Perez Hilton declares the group "mega-talented" on the post of their latest music video "I Love You" and MTV Style selected 2NE1 on their "Top 12 Girls To Watch In 2012."



Now with the "New Evolution" tour, the group has pulled together an elite production team that includes choreographer Travis Payne, musical director Divinity Roxx, production designer Michael Cotten and iconic fashion designer Jeremy Scott. Travis Payne, a four-time MTV Video Music Award winner for Best Choreography has worked with En Vogue, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Beyonce and Lady Gaga to name a few. The eclectic style of Divinity Roxx will lead 2NE1's band on the tour. Her self described "Ghetto Rock" sound is best known for working with Beyonce on her "Beyonce Experience" and "I am...Sasha Fierce" world tours. Bringing his experience from the Super Bowl, Olympic Games and Michael Jackson's "This Is It" tour, Michael Cotten has signed on as "New Evolution's" production designer. And last but not least, world renown fashion designer Jeremy Scott will give the girls bold and striking designs to bring on the road. Voted as one of the 31 most influential figures in fashion by Face Magazine, Scott has worked with artists including Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Kanye West. He will be styling for the tour and creating an all-new original collection for the girls.
