The dA Center for the Arts Announces Goddess of Pomona Group Exhibition in Collaboration with the Goddess of Pomona Festival

The dA Center for the Arts is proud to present Goddess of Pomona, a group exhibition on display from August 11 through September 29, 2012. In collaboration with the Goddess of Pomona Festival, the public has been invited to submit art pieces that explore the theme of Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit. The dA will be hosting an opening reception on August 11 from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Pomona Arts Colony Second Saturday Art Walk.

Hosted by the Downtown Pomona Owners' Association (DPOA) and the Pomona Arts Colony Association (PACA), the Goddess of Pomona Festival invites local galleries and businesses to honor the city's namesake by displaying art related to the theme.

As the dA's third open show of the year, Goddess of Pomona explores the community's interpretations of the goddess and part of the city's history. In mythology, Pomona was responsible for the flourishing of fruit trees. The decision to name the city was influenced by the agricultural booms of the late 1800s, as much of Pomona's early economic growth was derived from the success of its citrus and olive industries.

Dedicated to the community, the center serves to provide opportunities to experience, appreciate, and support the art through community art classes, events and exhibits.
