San Diegoe music conference set for Sept. 14 and 15

The San Diego Music Thing (SDMT) conference is now in its fifth year drawing music industry professionals, talented musicians and aspiring professionals to beautiful San Diego, California.

This year's SDMT will be September 14 and 15 with daytime events including panels, mentoring, demo review sessions and an acoustic pool stage, held at the historic Lafayette Hotel in North Park. Featured speakers for this year’s event include the inimitable Chuck D from Public Enemy, Wayne Kramer (MC5) and Martin Atkins (TourSmart) and more.

In the evening, over 170 performers including critically acclaimed artists Alejandro Escovedo, The Stone Foxes, Ben Taylor, JJAMZ, Bleeding Rainbow, Ume, Pictureplane, Eternal Summers, Voxhaul Broadcast, Hunx and His Punx, IAMDYNAMITE, NO, Nite Jewel, So Many Wizards and White Arrows, will take stage at venues around San Diego.

Additional notable panelists at this year’s event include Shirley Halperin (The Hollywood Reporter), Ben Westhoff (LA Weekly), Phil Gallo (Billboard), Corey Daniel (ToolShed), Nadine Gelineau (The Muse Box), Kristin Thomson (Future of Music Coalition), Lou Plaia ( ReverbNation), Hisham Dahud (Fame House), Margaret Saadi Kramer (Antic Inc.), Glenn Litwak (Law Offices of Litwak and Havkin) and more to be announced.

The annual event is presented by the San Diego Music Foundation, (www.sandiegomusicfoundation.org ) a non-profit organization that provides experiential music programs to San Diego County schools via its Guitars for Schools Program, organizes the San Diego Music Awards show and provides professional development opportunities to the community’s musicians. Proceeds from both the San Diego Music Thing and the San Diego Music Awards benefit the Guitars for Schools Program.
