Post-punk band Aficionado and experimental indie rockers TS & The Past Haunts have announced plans to join highly influential post-hardcore band Braid on their fall U.S. tour. Aficionado will open the East Coast leg of the tour from August 8 to August 12 and TS & The Past Haunts will open the West Coast shows from August 16 to August 19.
TS & The Past Haunts are a Los Angeles based collective born out of the demise of one of indie/punk’s most beloved bands, Piebald. Following the indefinite hiatus of Piebald, beloved guitarist/singer Travis Shettel began tour managing and eventually becoming the band’s keyboard/percussion player for The Duke Spirit. His time with the band led to his inspiration for his next project, TS & The Past Haunts. Joined by a married duo, Ben Heywood (drums) and Heather Heywood (bass) from Summer Darling and Kissing Cousins, TS & The Past Haunts’ music melds experimental, raw dark rock with bright pop sensibilities for a completely unique sound. Signed to No Sleep Records the trio has released an EP, Caveman Rock, and a full-length LP, Gone & Goner.
Blending post-punk and indie rock influences of bands like Cursive, At the Drive-In and The Hold Steady, Albany based band Aficionado formed in 2004 and released a slew of demos and toured the U.S. regularly until they were eventually signed with No Sleep Records in 2010. The band consists of seven members, Nick Warchol (vocals), James Kehoe (guitar), Chris Tenerowicz (guitar/horns), Chris Kehoe (bass), Craig Dutra (keys), Laura Carrozza (flute/vocals) and Mark O’Brien (drums), who bring together an eclectic mix of instruments and skillful songwriting on their 2011 full-length self-titled debut.
