John Zipperer in Altadena May 4

Known to fans as the “Zipperer Experience” because of the joy they bring to their concerts, the band will transport their unique and refreshing blend of rock, country and blues to the San Gabriel Valley.   The band draws upon a wealth of experience in music with credits that range from Jethro Tull and Vanilla Fudge to Frank Zappa and The Wallflowers.

John Zipperer and Friends have entertained people across the country with witty and brilliant lyrics written by Zipperer, and melodies that your tapping-toes will not be able to resist.  Zipperer is the main vocal and guitar and also takes turns on the piano and mandolin.  Barrett Tagliarino helps out with guitar, vocals and some mandolin, Tara Sister lends vocals, keyboards and percussion, Jime Van Booven brings his talent to the bass and lends vocals, and Eddie “The Spoonman” Terry plays—you guessed it—spoons.   The Coffee Gallery show will also be adding Merritt Raff on drums to give a bigger band sound.

Gary Austin, (Groundlings Theatre Founder) describes Zipperer as  “a cross between Towns Van Zandt and Guy Clark, while being a true original at the same time.”  Fans are also forthcoming with praise describing the music as “dynamic”, “original”, and characterizing the shows as having a lot of “smiles, laughs, foot-stomping and hand-clapping”.   Zipperer himself says the music has “No façade, no pretense of cool.   Just music.”  Just good music?  Ah, now that is a cutting-edge concept.  Catch this band of merrymakers on May 4th.
