Catch rare performance at DeclareYourself.com

In a stunning collision of energy, empowerment and celebration, Chester Bennington, lead vocalist of Grammy-winning, multi-platinum rock band Linkin Park, joined Camp Freddy onstage last night for an unforgettable performance of Alice Cooper’s “I’m Eighteen.” Marking the high point of Declare Yourself’s “Hollywood Celebrates 18” event held in Los Angeles, the live track can only be heard exclusively on the Declare Yourself website (www.DeclareYourself.com).
Founded by Norman Lear, Declare Yourself is the national nonpartisan, nonprofit youth voter initiative aimed at empowering and encouraging America’s 18-year-olds to register and vote in the 2008 primaries and general election. “Hollywood Celebrates 18” was co-hosted by Lear with popular television star Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”). The historic event also drew some of today’s most influential celebrities including Justin Timberlake, Kristin Bell, Chris Chaney, Sasha Cohen, Nick Cannon, Lauren Conrad, Nick D’Agosto, Julianne Hough, Dave Lieberman, Seth MacFarlane, Heidi Montag, Billy Morrison, Dave Navarro, Adrian Pasdar, Stephen Perkins, Plain White T’s, Zachary Quinto, Romeo, and Rumer Willis.
“I'm Eighteen” was originally recorded by Cooper in 1970 and became an instant classic. The crowd in attendance shouted the chorus as Camp Freddy members re-imagined the song as a rousing anthem with Bennington of Linkin Park on lead vocals, Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction on bass, Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction on guitar, Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction on drums and Billy Morrison of The Cult on guitar.
"Nothing speaks louder to today’s young people more than music, and no song is more perfect for our campaign than “I’m Eighteen,” said Marc Morgenstern, executive director of Declare Yourself. “Research shows that if someone registers and votes when they first become eligible at 18, they become a life-long voter.”
In addition to the exclusive “I’m 18” performance, declareyourself.com includes an on-line registration form and information covering voting in every state. Major Declare Yourself partners include Cricket Communications, Inc. (Presenting Sponsor), Yahoo! (Premier Online Information Partner), MySpace (Premier Social Networking Partner), Google, Evite, GOOD, Clear Channel, Comedy Central, American Eagle Outfitters and Starbucks. .
