Sex Pistols to play L.A.

“There has never been a band like the Sex Pistols, and there very likely never will be another band like the Sex Pistols…the Pistols are one of those rare groups that signify much more than can be conveyed in history books and myth-debunking documentaries, or even the music itself.” Ben Wener of the Orange County Register wrote those words after seeing the band give a devastating performance at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in September 2003, and he concluded by proclaiming: “there still is no greater punk band.”
To kick start their “holiday in the sun,” the SEX PISTOLS---who were last NOT seen at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2006--again descend on Los Angeles, this time when they play a special private club show for fans Thursday, October 25 at The Roxy. This gig by original members John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock is made possible by Indie 103.1, Guitar Hero® III: Legends Of Rock and Helio and marks the group’s first-ever appearance at the historic rock club--in fact, it’s their first-ever club show in Los Angeles--and comes in advance of three shows at The Brixton Academy in London (November 8, 9 and 10) which sold out in an amazing 15 minutes. Another show at The Brixton Academy on the 12th of November and one in Manchester at the MEN Arena November 17 have been added due to overwhelming demand. Listeners can win tickets to the Roxy show by tuning in to Indie 103.1 or going to www.indie1031.com.
The Roxy and upcoming U.K. shows coincide with celebration of the 30th anniversary of the 1977 release of Never Mind The Bollocks…Here’s The Sex Pistols. To accompany the celebrations, Never Mind The Bollocks…Here’s The Sex Pistols and its blistering singles “Anarchy In The UK,” “God Save The Queen,” “Pretty Vacant” and “Holidays In The Sun” will be re-issued on vinyl in their exact original format throughout October for the album’s 30th anniversary. The NME are also campaigning to push “God Save The Queen” to its rightful place at the number one spot in the singles chart, not that the band have ever cared about chart positions, especially after what happened back in 1977. It missed out on the top originally after radio, TV and even some record shops banned it amid rumors that the charts were rigged to prevent it from reaching #1.
“The Sex Pistols are legendary for defining the punk movement. Activision is proud to partner with them to once again make music history by re-recording their hit ‘Anarchy in the U.K.’ for our upcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock game, and sponsoring this historic event,” said Kai Huang, president and co-founder of RedOctane.
"The Sex Pistols are iconic and will forever be known as the innovators who initiated a movement that connected people through music," said Kieran Hannon, EVP of Marketing at Helio. "We're proud to be a part of this performance as we're also about connecting people, for us with the best and most innovative mobile experience there is."
