New efforts from Epitaph, Anti and Hellcat:
Orange - Escape From L.A. - 9/11 (Out Now!)
The LA based punk group's sophomore album is teeming with unbridled passion and raw energy with a fun and upbeat attitude. Produced by Phil Jaurigui at Swinghouse studios in Hollywood, recorded in under two weeks, and written mostly on the road while the band were touring over the past two years Escape From L.A. bridges the gap between pop-punk and rock through the band’s brash swagger, upbeat attitude and their inability to take anything too seriously.
Motion City Soundtrack - Even If It Kills Me - 9/18
A follow up to 2005's massively successful album Commit This To Memory, MCS perfect their trademark blend of driving synths, Indie rock riffs, bittersweet melodies and droll-yet-earnest lyrics on Even If It Kills Me. Produced in equal parts by duo Adam Schlesinger/Eli Janney (Fountains of Wayne) and pop-rock legend Ric Ocasek (Weezer, the Cars), Even If It Kills Me is a heartfelt examination of the human condition, at turns both comic and tragic. Contagiously clever, buoyantly catchy, and featuring the driving, instantly memorable hit single “This Is For Real,” Even If It Kills Me is the year’s most anticipated record.
Farewell - Isn't This Supposed To Be Fun!? - 9/25
Say hello to Farewell! The vivacious newcomers have arrived and are determined to put the fun back into rock with their debut album. The Southern-based sextet's unique style of power-pop blends quirky lyrics, scintillating synth and bouncy melody on tracks like the super catchy sing along "Stay Pretty" and the piano popping "War." Farewell inject a shot of vigor into the scene with their brand of upbeat light-hearted music, after all Isn't This Supposed To Be Fun?
Parkway Drive - Horizons - 10/9
Australia's most brutal export, Parkway Drive, unleash a catastrophic cyclone of furious metal on their sophomore album, Horizons. Produced by Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz (As I Lay Dying, Norma Jean, Unearth), the record teems with complex arpeggios, thrashing angular riffs and blood curdling growls. Parkway Drive bludgeon the senses on songs such as the harsh discordant anthems "Boneyards" and "Carrion" with ferocious apocalyptic breakdowns that will send fans moshing their way into the pit.
Operation Ivy - (self titled) - 11/6
Hellcat Records will release a remastered self-titled album from iconic ska-punk group Operation Ivy on November 6th. Originally distributed by Lookout! Records as a compilation in 1991, which sold in excess of 500,000 copies, Operation Ivy features the group’s only LP (Energy) as well as their 7” EP (Hectic) and two songs from the 7” EP compilation Turn It Around.
