Eastern Conference Champions on tour in October

Eastern Conference Champions (ECC), the up-and-coming rock trio that has been steadily building a buzz through endless touring and an instantly recognizable signature sound, has been chosen as the exclusive opening act for the west coast dates of alternative icon Black Francis’ upcoming tour. Kicking off October 1 in Portland, OR and continuing through a two-week, southbound trek ending in both acts’ adopted hometown of Los Angeles, ECC will join the Pixies frontman and enduring solo artist (aka Frank Black) for a series of intimate club dates and multi-night residencies. Eastern Conference Champions, featuring singer/guitarist Josh Ostrander, drummer Greg Lyons and uber-mustachioed bassist Vern Zaborowski, will take the stage with whip-tight, road-tested versions of songs featured on their recently released Suretone Records debut full-length, Ameritown.

July’s highly anticipated release of Ameritown, overseen by Brit-pop super-producer Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve), showcases ECC’s collection of soaring, anthemic, melodic rock that has have earned them a dedicated following with the public and press alike. The new album follows the power trio’s well-received 2006 EP, The Southampton Collection, as well as successful Los Angeles residencies and endless road treks across the nation with the likes of Ambulette, The Films, Ozma and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, among others. This summer also found ECC making a triumphant appearance at the XPoNential music festival, as well as a sensational performance of their hit single “The Box “ on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly.

Eastern Conference Champions have recently been featured by Blender, SPIN.com and Filter Magazine, who exclaimed, “[ECC’s new album] promises to have a wide musical range that pushes the genre boundaries of classical and rock and roll.” URB Magazine also named the band to their crucial Next 100 list of important up-and-coming acts, enthusiastically endorsing “their fun, fervent blend of indie rock…” MTV.com praised the band’s “soaring vocals, heavily distorted psych guitars and big drums,” while the Los Angeles Times called Ameritown “a charmer, with Ostrander's pinched vocals twined with his languid piano lines and the pressing beats of drummer Greg Lyons and bassist Vern Zaborowski.”
