Monster In The Machine plugs in for Southland dates

Monster In The Machine released their debut BUTTERFLY PINNED album to the masses on August 21 on Emotional Syphon Recordings (the new independent label owned by Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer) and now they're hitting the road to promote it. They're performing in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 9 at The Roxy, in Costa Mesa on Wednesday, October 10 at Detroit Bar and in Pioneertown (Yucca Valley) on Thursday, October 11 at Pappy & Harriet's. All three shows are with the Israeli band Rock Four. Unlike the acoustic show MITM's doing at the House of Blues in Anaheim on September 28 with Riders On The Storm, these October shows will be electric!
BUTTERFLY PINNED was mixed and recorded at Shannon’s home studio and at Henson Studios (formerly A&M Studios) in Los Angeles, CA. Shannon (formerly of Cellophane) is the mastermind behind this new band. Doug Ardito (bass) and Josh Freese (drums) appear on the album. The touring line-up includes Lats (bass, formerly with Memento), Jay Curry (drums) and John Chase (guitar).
Revolver recently described the album as “…a slow, atmospheric album that recalls the glam shimmers of David Bowie (‘Under Your Shadow’), the whispers, falsettos and mellotron-induced psychedelia of Sparklehorse (‘Perfect’), a nervous Interpol keyboard dance groove (‘Savior’), and a trip-out on the early Cure (‘Dot On My Soul’)…best sort of surprise.”
After Cellophane’s last record didn’t perform to Shannon’s expectations, he became disillusioned with the music industry and decided to pursue another passion, painting. His work has been acquired by celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan and author Jerry Stahl.
You can check out a gallery of his art on his website, www.shannoncrawford.com . One piece of art to point out is the album cover he created for Norma Jean’s highly successful REDEEMER album (of a crow pecking at the back of a little girl’s head!).
