Elvis themed book released for young readers

Elvis has ENTERED the building! Alfred A. Knopf is pleased to share with young readers award-winning author Shelley Pearsall’s latest novel ALL SHOOK UP (on sale May 13, 2008 / 15.99).

Newly teenaged Josh has just moved to Chicago from Boston, where he is living with his father for a few months while his mother tends to a family emergency. It’s bad enough being in a new city, home, and school, but when Josh discovers that his father has a new occupation, that of an Elvis impersonator, he thinks he may die of embarrassment. Josh’s life is all shook up, and when it looks like his dad might be performing at his school, Josh attempts to take matters in his own hands to ensure that the performance never happens.

A hilarious look at the relationship between a father and son, Pearsall’s Elvis Presley research led her to meeting many Elvis impersonators and even visiting Elvis-A-Rama in Las Vegas. Readers of all ages will be kicking off their blue suede shoes and delving into the entertaining pages of ALL SHOOK UP.

SHELLEY PEARSALL is the author of Trouble Don’t Last, winner of the Scott O’Dell Award for Historical Fiction, Crooked River, and All of the Above, an ALA Notable Book. A former teacher and museum historian, she now writes full-time from her home in Ohio. Visit Shelley’s Web site at www.shelleypearsall.com for more information on her books.
