Michael Jackson's concert sell out

It is official - the hottest tickets on the planet, and the fastest selling tickets in London ever …..are completely sold out.

750,000 fans have bought tickets to see the undisputed King Of Pop live at the O2 Arena in days of frantic fan frenzy and saturated media coverage around the globe.

The amazing news of Michael Jackson’s return to the stage caused tickets to sell at an average rate of 40,000 an hour, over 650 tickets per minute - an astonishing 11 per second!

This morning, fans from as far a field as Japan, Belgium and Dubai queued to purchase their tickets. First in line was Ayesha Obi from Lewisham, in South East London. Holding her front row tickets, Ayesha, 19, started crying with emotion and excitement and said, “I queued for 2 whole days, it was well worth the wait. I am ecstatic!”

Chris Edmonds, Managing Director, Ticketmaster UK, said: “We often talk about unprecedented demand, but this week we have witnessed a live entertainment phenomenon. We have seen a truly amazing level of interest and demand for tickets from fans from across the world for the Michael Jackson shows at The O2 over the last 3 days. The success of the general on-sale today has led to Michael Jackson and AEG Live adding even more dates, taking the total amount of performances to 50. Today, we saw well over 250,000 fans hitting the Ticketmaster site at 7am for the general sale tickets. Whilst queues were long we were selling tickets at an exceptional rate. This was undoubtedly the busiest demand for tickets for an event which we have ever experienced.”

Three quarters of a million fans clearly feel the same way and their attention will now turn to the actual concerts, perhaps the most anticipated in history. Up there alongside Elvis Presley in Las Vegas, Michael Jackson is about to write a new chapter in entertainment folklore.

Randy Phillips, President & CEO of AEG Live, commented, “The last week has been the most astonishing I have seen in my career in the entertainment business. I, for one, am counting the days, minutes and seconds until that first show. I just cannot wait. ”
