Join us for stories, songs, and fingerplays followed by a Scholastic film adaptation of an award-winning, classic children’s picture book. Film screen times range from 5-15 minutes. Appropriate for children ages 2-8 years and their families.

Children ages 5-12 are invited to visit the library to read to Pearl. Pearl is a sweet, loveable standard poodle from the Pasadena Humane Society’s Home Companion Program. This reading enrichment program makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals. The Barks & Books program runs the 4th Saturday of each month at 11:00 am.

Come join us for a Homeschool Information Night where we'll be answering questions such as: Is it legal?, Where do I get curriculum?, How do I start?, What about socialization?, and more. Special guest Tammy Takahashi (Author of Deschooling Gently: a Step by Step Guide to Fearless Homeschooling) will discuss homeschooling questions, concerns, and joys. Come join us! It’s FREE! Join us for a reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar (by Eric Carle) and “Read for the Record”. Following stories, children can do caterpillar crafts! Participating children will receive their very own limited edition copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. “Read for the Record” is a nationwide literacy awareness event, where readers throughout the country try to set a world record for the number of people reading the same book on the same day. The Altadena Library District’s programs will be one of many special events throughout the nation. Help us set a world record!

The annual In-N-Out reading program will begin Sat., Oct. 10th and will run through Sat., Nov. 21st. Children ages 4-12 check-out and read five library books and receive a certificate for a free hamburger or cheeseburger from In-N-Out Burger!

Halloween and Día de los Muertos Celebration

Día de los Muertos / Day of the Dead is a traditional Mexican holiday when family and friends gather to honor and remember loved ones. Halloween and Day of the Dead activities will include construction paper jack o’ lanterns, puppets, Mexican paper flowers, and sugar-skull decorating.
