Foxy Shazam signs with Sire Records and on tour

Red hot, piano-driven, toe-tapping "rock 'n soul" sextet Foxy Shazam has signed to Sire Records. The Cincinnati, OH band is putting the finishing touches on their debut for the label, due out in early 2010.

Citing influences as varied as Marvin Gaye, Elton John and “Born To Run”-era Bruce Springsteen, Foxy Shazam has been creating unique, genre-defying music since they formed in 2004. Their new album uses a blend of passion, danger, and an aggressive pop spark to ignite their songs and take Foxy to the next level.

"We wanted to go places where nobody goes,” explains front man Eric Nally. “We weren't afraid to take risks with this record, because as long as you take them with confidence it will work out. Nothing is cool until it's made cool."

Foxy Shazam released their last album, Introducing in January 2008 on venerable indie label Ferret Music and have been taking their good times mobile ever since. Foxy have been touring constantly all over the US, playing in venues and bars and basements. This commitment has paid off: their notorious live show is a thing of beauty and has won them a dedicated cult of followers.

Foxy is out now on a US tour with Swedish new wave band The Sounds. The dates, which kicked off September 11th in Quebec City, QUE, run through November 7th in Chicago, IL.
