WANTED: HEAVY LIFTERS

People accustomed to lifting 200 pounds or more can compete for trophies and prizes during the fifth annual bench press competition at Villa-Parke Community Center in Pasadena on Saturday, Sept. 26.

“The contest started five years ago as friendly competition among those working out with weights at Villa-Parke Community Center and continues to grow more competitive each year, with additional sponsors and prizes,” said Bill Davis, recreation coordinator.

This year’s competition is sponsored by Max Muscle, Juice It Up! and the city of Pasadena.

The event welcomes male and female competitors in five weight categories, with corresponding minimum starting lifts:

* Lightweight (150 lbs. and under), 205 lbs.

* Middleweight (151-180 lbs.), 245 lbs.

* Light-Heavyweight (181-210 lbs), 285 lbs.

* Heavyweight (211-235 lbs.), 325 lbs.

* Super-Heavyweight (236 lbs. and above), 365 lbs.

Applications are available at the center at 363 E. Villa St. The cost to compete is $10 per person. For more information call Bill Davis at (626) 744-6523.
