Metal upstarts MUTINY WITHIN , dubbed "Jersey-based shredders" by Revolver Magazine and labeled as a "Band You Need to Know in 2010" by Loudside.com, continue to live their lives on the road, converting one fan at a time to their modern blend of progressive metal the old fashioned way: through lots of touring. It's going to be incredibly busy spring and summer seasons for the New Jersey band, which released its self-titled debut in February, who will pound the pavement alongside Sonata Arctica, beginning April 2. The tour will run for four weeks. The six-piece will follow up the Sonata Arctica trek with a spate of dates that will be announced imminently, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
Next, the band will join Soilwork on that band's summer tour, which kicks off July 14 and runs through August 15.
"This is what it's all about for us, touring the world with such incredible bands! First Soulfly, then Arch Enemy, and now Sonata Arctica and Soilwork. Whew!" bassist AJ Jacobs said. "Sonata Arctica was an early influence for us and we used to blast their album Silence all day long. We took inspiration from their soaring melodies, fast pace and of course, their mind- blowing shred."
Jacobs also expressed the thrill of touring with Soilwork, saying, "They are a band that will get put on in our van and will stay on, with all of us singing along. From Steelbath Suicide to Stabbing the Drama, this band has always been an MW favorite. For [guitarist] Peter Wichers to ask us to support them for their North American summer leg is a true honor." He also said, "We will be giving 100% every night and will be playing the songs that you want to hear. Come join us on these tours and sing loud with us!"
"Mutiny Within's labelmates in Dream Theater have also taken to the band, offering ringing endorsements of their music, with guitarist John Petrucci commenting.
"I love the melodic content. Makes it really enjoyable to listen to while the technicality of the music totally contributes to the song power and makes it more interesting to me than typical metal. They should be huge," while drummer Mike Portnoy said, "These guys are real good! They would go over amazingly well with our audience."
