Canadian folk rockers Great Big Sea are on tour supporting Safe Upon The Shore, a disc with “a vibrancy and energy that is simply intoxicating...” (-All Music Guide). Released July 13th, Safe Upon The Shore, the 10th release from platinum-selling Canadian folk rockers Great Big Sea, has debuted at #2 on the Canadian Top 100 Billboard chart and #4 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers Charts (#159 overall). This is their best chart debut since Sea of No Cares debuted at #1 in 2002.

Recorded in fits and starts over a six month period, a majority of Safe Upon The Shore was recorded in New Orleans with producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), while other songs were recorded at the band’s studio in St. John’s. The New Orleans influences is evident on the brassy “Don’t Wanna Go Home,” Bayou-inspired hootenanny “Hit The Ground And Run,” the Southern folk/rock harmonies of “Good People” and delicate Creole/folk-infused lullaby “Follow Me Back” mix with the more traditional Newfoundland fare on ‘Yankee Sailor” and “Road To Ruin.”
