Kelly McCune and her Americana string band, Border Radio, will host an evening of L.A.’s premier string bands at Molly Malones in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 16, 2011, 7:30 p.m.
Performing will be Border Radio, the Salty Suites with award-winning mandolin player Scott Gates and Chuck Hailes, and Cliff Wagner and the Old #7. Opening the show is the talented young songwriter, Phoebe Bridgers.
McCune describes Border Radio’s music as “hot grassroots Americana and cool cowboy jazz." McCune's voice has been compared to Patsy Cline and k.d. lang. In addition to Kelly’s voice, tight three-part harmonies and careful arrangements define the Border Radio sound.
